Guest Casey-G Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) Long overdue (can't believe i forgot to put it up here) is my current build, after my disappointing attempt to go fast in a fwd 4agte propelled vehicle that saw me track it for the first time and within a week have it stripped down to a bare shell with the motor in the spirit. Nayways, onto the more interesting stuff, Car is a 1984 genuine ae71 spirit lil rough around the edges, just as i like it. Came with the original 4ac of doom with probably close to 400,000kms or more, hard to say due to the rear diff ratio being changed to 4.3:1 Drove it on and off while i was sorting out the fwd death trap, eventually it just stopped getting driven as i sorted all the problems with the at the time project. As said before it did not take long to undo a years worth of work after one track day at winton revealed the limitations of fwd in general, this made my mind up pretty quick. As it sits; Engine: AE101 4agze bottom end (7rib block w/oil squirters) ARP main studs King mains Factory rods ARP rod bolts Factory forged/ceramic coated slugs Hastings chrome rings Bluetop (bigport) Head and cams. Endurotec water pump HKS adjustable cam gears Gates racing timing belt Gilmer alternator and water pump belt drive 3 angle seat & valve job External oil drain port as per small port heads has been added to assist in draining the oil back to the sump. Drivetrain: T50 box t series diff (welded as i bought it) Extreme HD pressure plate ae92 16v smallport flywheel excedy HD organic plate other misc shit i either have already on the car or is awaiting fitment/fabrication: Masterpower T58 turbo Bosh 044 pressure pump and a 140lph lifter RCI alloy fuel cell Haltech platinum sport1000 Bosch 4bar map sensor numerous autometer gauges turbosmart duel stage boost controller Haltech/bosch wideband O2 kit Modified 4agze cam angle sensor 4x LS1 direct fire coils wired to fire sequential. Custom 10.5mm leads (not that that matters), low resistance. Good ol bosch Vpower copper core plugs (cold f@$kers)! Custom turbo manifold (yet to be made) by yours truely, SCH40 38mm nb stainless steel steam pipe bends, laser cut flanges, fully back purged and TIG welded UNI filter to suit a BA falcoon, modified Aluminum bellmouth to suit @4" dia inlet. Standard TVIC inlet manifold with deleted TVIS butterfly's, cut n shut to suit RWD 2 3" core FMIC's end tanks removed, cores stuck together end tanks modded and re-welded to the new franken'cooler lot more to get and list but you get the idea oh ps: I have since found no one likes the headlights i bought it with (well the ae86dc boys apparently don't like it :S ) Few pics: way back when Old boy helpin drag the bitch back in the shed: CUT'N'SHUTTUP: Coil pack bracket: stay tuned! In the midst of picking up my r32 gtr so i can eventually tow this whore to the track ;) Edited May 2, 2011 by Casey-G Quote

jimi91 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Did u use a after market computer to run the coil over system ???? I'm looking ast running the same system but is haveing a few probs see ya jimi Quote
Guest Casey-G Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Ha! Yeah, well I'm running a haltech platinum computer and it can control them directly, i never looked into any other methods as these will be fine for any power i go for and they are easy to find. I guess with an ignition control module it could be made to work, messy but. Quote
jimi91 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 hmmmmm ok i was looking at a megasquiet which contols timing and everything else and its cheap  maybe i should just try it and see if it works lol :lolcry: Thanks anyway mate and the cars look awesome keep up the good work :D see ya jimi Quote

Interesting :hmm: Edited May 3, 2011 by carbonboy 1 Quote
Guest Casey-G Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I know its all cool n stuff for the DIY'r in electronics, but on top of the modification of the cars i work on along with the tuning, buying a good reliable proven engine management system that only requires you to terminate a few sensors really made it alot easier for me, i too looked into MS but i am still to this day glad i went with haltech. 1 Quote
jimi91 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 yeah will do mate ill let u know, well my dad has all the stuff at his work to build this stuff  so he said he could build it for me which will make it cheaper  yeah i know the haltech is better its very expensive thats my opioun on it sorry :hmm: and i would like to try something different from everyone else see ya jimi Quote
Guest Casey-G Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I'm not really arguing which is better mate, I'm just saying in terms of the build its cheaper to not spend anytime on the computer itself and buy it just ready to go. In other news, i have a 90mm throttle body on the way! Shame i installed it on the motor already! :o Quote

Guest Casey-G Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 So too few updates, been ties up with work and other shiznitzle what happened was i like worked on the car a little bought a few parts n shiz: 90mm throttle bods yew: I have ordered a Haltech PS1000 as well as a 4bar map sensor, the double intercooler had to get canned to make way for a water/meth injection system, so yeah, ball is rolling toward some 30psi shenanagations Quote
