TRD ke70 Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 I have a little issue with a Haltech. The problem is the ecu is seeing a rpm signal that is inconstant, sometimes it flicks to 16,000 rpm at idle and engine is running like a bag of shit and won't pull pass 3-4000rpm. We have been through all the possible signal inputs, including replacing the dizzy, to the ignition module. The engine use to run fine, but everything has been changed over to a new car, including a the ecu harness. Any help would be great. Quote
Twinky Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Could be interferance with the line from the dizzy. Try grabbing some of those magnets off from the back of monitor power cables and put one on the engine bay side and one inside the car over the wire. Is the wire a shielded wire or just a bare PVC wire? If it's not shielded I would strongly reccomend getting shielded wire for the signal. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Can u play with the trigger sensitivity? Might even have sensitivity step ups in rpm! Quote
Trev Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Do you have access to a oscilloscope? I dare say it will be a signal wire issue and an O/S will show that. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Report Posted May 1, 2011 thanks guys It is a shielded signal harness and it is grounded at one end only. It's a fairly old Haltech, not really that much in it,It's an E6S. sorry Trev i don't have access to that equipment. 'm still working through it at this stage, my brain hurts!! Quote
Redwarf Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Talked to Wayne? He's working for a Haltech agent now, so might be able to put you onto someone. And hurry up and finish the car, I need Pete for mine. :) Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 2, 2011 Author Report Posted May 2, 2011 Thanks for all the help guys. We managed to get it sorted out, looks like it was a combination of things, from the dizzy to the harness. She is now running sweet and almost ready for Rally Q. :) Quote
