Medicine_Man Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Just goes to show you should always carry a fire extinguisher in the car, I recon they should be mandatory (Just like they are with boats). Also doesn't help much when you open the bonnet and give the fire more oxygen to fuel the fire.. Quote

Rolla__Boy Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I cannot believe the stupid comments made about that video on that site....forgetting anything else...about how he opened the bonnet, installed large turbo etc...it is still some poor bastards car.....and had that been one of their cars I am sure they wouldn't be laughing...No matter what sort of car it is...that sucks and shouldn't have happened. Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 didn't watch the whole thing, but one of the comments is right, you just don't modify a car and not carry a fire extinguisher. even so, it would suck to have ones' car burn down, i feel for the guy i believe that a proper extinguisher and a reflective triangle should be legal requirements in a car, and they should be checked yearly in every state. along with a goddamn dustpan and brush, as it's illegal to leave your taillight and window glass laying all over the road after a crash, yet it happens time and time again Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted November 5, 2005 Author Report Posted November 5, 2005 So true Jamie Looking at were the fire was it looked like a bit of tight place to get too, inbetween dash & turbo on the firewall(no pun intended). Makes you wonder what could he have done different, more fire extinguishers? plowed the car into a lake ... I saw a camry on the M1 burn like that too :D Quote
Lucky Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 DO NOT get me started on cars burning down! I also think extinguisers sould be mandatory too! :jamie: Also, the little hand held ones wont actually do much if your car is on fire. You need the ones that are about 6" diameter but are kinda stubby looking. Quote
Teddy Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 that movie really annoys me :jamie: Hell, across the road is a block of appartments / or a pub looking out look. Whats the chances that there is a garden hose / and or water over there ?! -> Sence would of told me, oh shite, car on fire, drive over there and start yelling like crazy for help... Meh.. Quote
James Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 weired that no one in the video looks excited and the guy taking the video just keeps on rolling the flim as if its nothing out of the ordanary, insurans job? that thing looks like a turbo that made something hot and inturn made it firery, can that happen if a turbo is not installed by a pro. Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted December 14, 2005 Author Report Posted December 14, 2005 depends on what you consider a pro, when installing a turbo or working on car part which gets very hot, its a smart idea to have a look at what could be damaged. Also by the looks of it the turbo is mounted in a strange position, apparently a heat shield is the norm when upgrading turbos on GTi's Quote
