camerondownunder88 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 ^^^ That is dam nice seeing inside has given me more questions than answers..lol First off did you deck the block much? I know 4age stuff in a 5K you need to take heaps off the block. Also I see you put Welsh plugs in the lifter bores. I take it you run a cam and where dizzy is made a shaft and bearing assy. to hold a shaft that still spins the oil pump? Do you still use the oil gallery in the block to get oil to the head? Or does all the oil now go through the red lines around the motor? But I do ask your conrods did you weld the sides up so they fill the gap in the crank or do you just let them "float" around a bit? Interesting on the jetting but. I wonder what some guys run in there carby 4age motors. Might be able to use some jetting sizes. But mmmm this must go on my to do list..lol Imagine a black top 20V 4K can use the VVT then :) Cheers Cameron Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 can't help but notice did you happen to "copy" the look of the twin cam TRD 3K rocker cover? As at first that is what it looks like but a tad different..lol Similar but Quote
filfrederick Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 this engine has done exactly what i wanted, confuse people. i will do a proper write up of what i have done soon and i have heaps of pics as well. Quote
filfrederick Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) tried to get a recording on my phone so you could see how quickly it revs. not very good quality but you can sort of hear it if you crank up the volume http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4PWewL0404 Edited May 5, 2011 by filfrederick Quote
snot35 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Super cool. I'm also interested in what you did with the cam arrangement, lubrication etc? Quote
filfrederick Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 check out rides section for more info on my engine prob should stop hijacking this thread Quote
terryo Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 congrats. i do this stuff for a living, so i appreciate how much effort is involved in relation to earlier posts. the K bottom end is all but indestructible. rev to 9000 with well prepared crank & rods. pistons were the weak link at those revs, but modern forgies fix that has none of the bottom end problems that plague hot 4AG's Quote
anteKE Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 Why? Well my last project involved engineering IRS into a Datsun ute. New front suspension and many body mods. I'd love something relatively simple to work and believe mCe, compared to my other ideas this is as simple as it gets. G'day mate Congratulations ,you dare to be different, you dare to think outside the square. Go for it mate, expect the knockers and doubters to give you heaps, carry on regardless. looking forward to your progress reports Quote
