Well, whats better

A super stiff suspension setup that has no body roll ?

Or a stiff suspension setup that keeps some body roll ?

Which one will go around corners better and faster ?

Wouldn't the 'super stiff' suspension setup be better for sliding?

to be honest, unless you are hellbent on getting a corolla, weather it be for looks, or the oldschoolness (which are both valid reasons), then grab a nissan for easy fun sideways action.

Thanks for the advice man

Cuts sprigs and a locked diff is definitely defectable, but in Vic the highway patrol will stick a canary on the window of an untouched car if they are in the right mood.

Bullshit. I got pulled over years ago in a turbo bluebird wagon that looked like crap but happened to be engineered and roadworthy. It had a pod and it was borderline to loud (92dBa).

I was polite, I was accomodating and the copper really really wanted to do me. But he didn't. Because he couldn't.

The best corolla to buy for sliding is an AE86. I've driven KE70's and they handle fairly unimpressively in stock form. High rate springs and 15mm to the bump stops will make your granny's little tartan market trolley "slide".

This thread irks me. "sliding" irks me, I'm shutting it down if it gets any worse.

Full sick. With matching tote bag.

How long ago was this? times have changed.

I know of a guy who had his FG F6 defected 2 weeks after buying it brand new, it was unmodified but the copper was adament that no car came factory fitted with a front mount. The guy had to provide a roady and took a long a letter from his local ford dealer regarding the factory front mount.

And yeah the AE86 seems to be the way to go, thanks

ke70, cut springs, locked diff, rainy day. LOL

This is actually more along the lines of what i expected to hear haha

But thanks for all the comments :)

I'm not sure who is more stupid, him for saying it or you for listening,

But then I think, it's the Internet... Proudly connecting retards around the world.

In fact serious or not it's actually what people still do these days, because they

don't want to learn, don't want to spend any money, are impatient and ignorant

if not plain stupid to say the least...

It's going to be uncontrollable and unpredictable on the streets in the wet,

as a unregistered budget drift car on a wet track to learn yeah why not,

just get caged up and a harness and bounce off barriers but don't bring that to

a public road where you bounce off other motorists on the freeway in the rain.

Thanks and Good luck.

Get off your high horse mate. Stupid for listening to him? how do you justify that? have i gone out and done what this guy is sugessting? all ive done is simply thank the bloke for his suggestion.

All i wanted to know was what models will slide better, but instead you guys jump on the ban waggon knowing that you have the support of each other to create an argument. I know P Platers are stereotyped and they are in/cause more accidents. If i wanted to hear about that s#!t i would of created/found a topic on P Platers driving like f#@kwits.

Thanks to those who suggested a model :)

To the others who havent, thanks for your concern but i have a mum who does a good enough job of that :y:

I think that this thread should have been shut down when the OP stated that it was not going to be on the track.

As far as I am concerned this is just blatent 17 year old "hooning" bullshit. It's no wonder we get hassled by the popo

soo mutch with clowns like this on the road. Seriously an XR6? You can't control a car yet and you are driving that around?

I admit I am not always a perfect driver but I sure as hell never endanger other drivers on the road by drifting

around corners. I am at the stage of thinking that forums need a minumum age limit to filter out this school holidays bullshit.

Sick of pubescent posts like this.

Whats wrong with an xr6? Who are you to jude wether or not i can control a car yet? for all you know i could have been racing go karts since i was 9 and going to track meets with my brother in his s14. I could have spent more time behind the wheel of higher power cars than you, why do you think you have any idea what experience i have. you don't. I could school you on a track racing, you could leave me for dead. The point is you have no f#@king idea based on this topic. Your so uninformed yet your willing to judge.

Read the topic, i simply want to know what corolla will slide better, but you also jump on the ban wagon. You point the finger at me claiming i'm prepubescent yet your online trying to demean a younger bloke who really doesn't give a f#@k how experienced you think he is when it comes to driving. Do you go from topic to topic looking for where you can get stuck into someone where you know you have support of others? Does it make you feel good about yourself?

I'm not going to go 'drifting' through suburban streets or flying up a freeway, but i think midnight in an industrial area 10km from any homes or busy streets is a different matter.

I started this topic to find out what car i should be looking in to, and i'm swamped with these comments that are missing a suggestion in relation to the actual question.

even then an ae86 with a 4age will only go so far...

If you have a XR6 it will make a good tow car, buy a cheap turbo silvia or skyline (my mate just picked up a sr20DET 180 for $2800, spent another $1200 on coilovers and takes it to the track and does his drifting all legally and he is still on P plates.

Or if you must have a street regoed drift car an ae86 would probably be the best bet, then take it to the track every now and then, but you'll be struggling to keep with the bigger turbo cars on the track.

Midnight on public roads anywhere is still illegal. So you are basic saying you ARE going to drift it illegally?

Why hasn't this thread been locked....ADMINS you abuse us when we talk about drifting on roads and this clown comes in with no experience wanting to buy a corolla only to thrash the shit out of and slide all over the place. I agree with twinky, scar92 you are the clown.

Get off the road if you want to drive like an absolute f@$k head. Your the type of c**t that f@$ks everything up for future generations of p platers and other drivers on the road.

Grow up.

this is getting out of hand.

scar92, next time figure out a way of asking questions like this without blatantly saying you are going to do something illegal and it will keep everyone happy.

Posted (edited)

scar we aren't trivialising you driving ability. Maybe you are the worlds best driver.

But more than likely if you were a really good track warrior these types of questions wouldn't need to be asked by you.

You could drive go karts for years but a ton of metal with a completely different way of handling is a different kettle of fish.

We are here to, and enjoy helping.

We are not here to help you get yourself injured or killed, or worse, an innocent bystander on a public road (people DO work in industrial estates at night).

Dave is right.

Ask the question right, get the right answers.

Act and ask like a run of the mill dickhead P plater who thinks he is a drift king above the law...

then expect derision and no help.
