what is the best way to remove the front k-frame with engine and tranny still attached?

and do I have to undo the steering.

(i got a gregory's service and repair manual but it isn't helpful)

Remove engine and transmission together, remove crossmember, re-attach crossmember...

 

Or

 

Remove car off cross member

 

If the steering is attached to the crossmember, then yes.

 

Is there some reason behind this?

i would like to transfer basically everything mechanical from one bent corolla to a straight corolla.

Here's how I would do it I think

 

Pop the engine out

I would remove the struts.

Undo steering box and idler arm from subframe, Option could be to disconnect ball joints here as well

Undo steering coupleing,

Undo K frame bolts from subframe

Remove subframe

 

There a proberly at least 6 ways of going about it, Depending on what every thing is like.
