SLW42 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 hey guys was talking to afew mates of mine about dropping a turbo ef/l falcon 4L into a kesev, I just wanted to know what are your thoughts on it Here's what would be used.... EL donor car for 1. Motor and manual box. 2. Wiring harness 3. Dash 4. Any other little bits on pieces The ke would then be fitted with 1. Polished silver front mount i/c and polished stainless cooler pipes 2. Some form of radiator havn't quite worked that out yet, falcon radiators are too wide to fit 3. 4L, T5, Cushioned button clutch and custom tailshaft 4. Turbo manifold and TO4Z with external gate and screamer 5. 3inch exhaust 6. falcon dash and wiring harness 7. Front seats and half cage (possible full cage) 8. Welded shut and smoothed rear doors 9. shortend falcon diff with spool and 4.11:1's 10. Stock falcon 15's all round 11. Dumped on whatever springs felt neccassary 12. BIG BRAKES So what do you think about it.... don't tell me why not beams 3sgte, sr, ca, fourage, the idea is to be different, or the cost would be stupidly huge to do it all, i can get crazy bargins :) I just would like to hear some opinions on it is all, Cheers Justin Quote
Istartfires Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 I kinda had the same thoughts but using a ba/bf xr6 turbo motor. Would the engine weight be to much? Quote
SLW42 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 not if you moved it so it had say 2.5cylinders over the front wheels instead of 3/3.5, plus heavy spring rates help :P Yeah would love a ba/f xr6turbo motor but there way to expensive, and i can get a whole car for $300 Quote
jono1986 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 What's the purpose of the car, burnout, drifts? I don't know anything at all about it but wouldn't that motor be pretty heavy? Quote
SLW42 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 yeah falcon motors are pretty heavy, but it's just like anything move it back to get some weight off the front wheels it'll handle Yeah drift, drag, burnout car, and if in some miracle it'd pass a modplate/engineering street car.... Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 It will never be a street car. Sounds like a car that wont steer well. May as well go a 2jz. Buy a non turbo one and boost it. As Ive often said, just because its cheap/available isnt a good reason to toss a motor in something. If you must have 6 cylinders and a mass produced cheap as shit motor use a Buick V6 from a commodore as it will do a better job of placing the weight on or behind the front wheels. probably not what a ford man wants to hear, though. Quote
Raven Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 It'll steer............. by using your right foot :P Quote
7FOUR7 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 think of where the manual shifter will come through the floor with the engine so far back Quote
snot35 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 I reckon do it, but if you think it will handle you might be disappointed. Maybe also consider seam welding and strengthening as well as a full cage. Things will probably start popping apart otherwise. Quote
SLW42 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 Wouldn't really waste the money on a buick V6 anyways tbh, plus i like a challenge, and by moving the motor back it would technically take more weight off the front axle and therefore steer better :D, i know just because it's cheap isn't an excuse to do it, but if everyone went by that mentality, where would OKE020 be today??? the shifter position isn't really a drama cause you can always make a lever system and put it where ever you want! I've seen it done before on a 2J s15 with the motor moved back so like 1.5cyl's were over the front wheels in a drift car and it apparently handled the same as with an sr in it if not better they reckon Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 It'll steer............. by using your right foot :P Well, oversteer anyhow. I'm not saying it wont be fun, just a bloody handful if you try to drive for time around corners, it would certainly drag well. Quote
SLW42 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 (edited) it would useless at driving around corners yes but sliding around them thats a different story hahahaha, and if i was to put a 6 into a keto, it certainly wouldn't be used for time attack or sprints thats certain :D I think keeping it straight would be a mission, powercuise would be fun though :P imagine the looks on the boys driving big v8's seeing a turbo ke70 coming up in there rear view mirror full of wheelspin and smoke pouring off the back tires :D would be priceless Edited April 16, 2011 by SLW42 Quote
love ke70 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 yeah, that fun never wears off ;) you wont get it on the street, but i am a fan of turbo 6 ke70's but you gotta do it well, and in my experience the motor is the cheap bit of a good conversion, so you may as well do it with something you really want..
