67Rolla-Ken Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Hi guys, I just picked up this little baby She has a few little issues but I think she's good value for what I paid ;) Now... anyone on here know much about E30 Beemers?? She has some issues with the electrics. Nothing that will effect her duties as my daily driver but it would be nice to resolve them. The oil pressure sender is not working (light stays on), the drivers window reg is dead and the battery charge light won't turn off... :P Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) Oh man I have a soft spot for E30's !!! The E30 M3 is one of my dream cars! If you ever need bits and pieces search through some South African Sites ( www.Autostyle.co.za ) just 1 of the few. South Africa has the biggest 3 series population outside of Germany  Good Luck man Edit: how much you pick her up for? Edited April 15, 2011 by Spencer Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted April 15, 2011 Author Report Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks Spencer, yeah I've always liked the look of the E30's. I'm doing a bit of digging and will try and sort out exactly what I need tomorrow. But first... a thorough wash and polish is in order! Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Give us some better pics after the polish! :) And ask mods nicely to change this to non-rolla build thread. Oh just noticed the plates! You didnt tell us its the 325!!! Probally the rarer engine of the 4 doors But seriously what you pay for her :laff: Quote
clubby2084 Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Ah - the German Corolla. Nice. (Nah kidding, that would be the 316i) I have been told of a couple of horror stories with BMW electrics. Mainly around the instrument cluster. My mates 316i (a later model than an E30), cluster started playing games. Flicking tacho, fading lights, unreadable readouts. Turned out to be the service indicator (green, yellow, red LED's to indicate when service is due) is not wired into the cars mains power and has it's own battery behind the instrument cluster. That battery leaked, then set about corroding the back of the instrument cluster. Repair was a new instrument cluster, and it was an expensive one. I've heard the same story with the 5 series. Worth looking into, just incase. Nice E30 too, classic BMW shape. Quote
twisted2 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 nice bmw so what happen to the old daily and the parts car?? Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 Still got everything else for now... Once I get the Beemer up to scratch (mech & elec) I'm trading the Rona for some minor body repairs on the Beemer. She got backed into a pole, not major but would like to fix. Quote
twisted2 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 any updates on the ke10 or on hold to the bmw sorted Quote
7shades Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 You know you can shove a 1JZ into an E30 quite easily... Just sayin' :P Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 Shhhh, don't let the wife hear you say that! Now that would be fun! :hmm: Quote
7shades Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 I have an E21 in the shed, and I'm bringing back an E30 Touring (wagon) from the UK next year. Mostly because they were never sold here, so it'll be a bit different. Then I'll be throwing a 1JZ into it... Because Europhiles get really cranky when you put Japanese engines into European cars :) Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 Sounds like a good enough reason to me :lolcry: Quote
