I finally finished the wiring harness today, plugged it all back up to get ready for the first fireup in 3yrs, as soon as I connected the battery engine started to crank over by itself bypassing the iginition system??? and drained battery ..see my thread for more info, but yeh, :(

Make sure you do a vid of you firing it up for the first time.

So awesome news guys. Got my extractors painted today, finised off the wiring, put the radiator in and with some water, oil and petrol HEY PRESTO it started :D

At first the timing was out a tad so we fixed that and then the jet was a bit blocked up so it was flat spotting a bit. So we took the carby back off and unblocked it and it was all good :y:

Sounds a bit like a tractor at the moment with no exhaust :laff:

Radiator still has to come back out to be sandblasted and painted.

I managed to get a few vid's uploaded to youtube, check them out :)

Great progress Matty! Sounds tough coming straight from the extractors :)

Hows the left hand mirror coming along :)

Regarding buying the indicators off ebay, being Taiwanese quality can be questionable as far as colouring and fitment, if you want to bring back the shine on the guard indicators use some cream polish and do it by hand. If your pretty steady with a bench mounted buffing machine you could polish it up that way too.

Ive done mine by hand any they have come out tops, especially since the car is garaged all the time as I'm sure your will be

Keep up the good work!

Would be that tempted to creep it out for a quick little drive. ..

What you do with the engine? freshen it up ?

Haha i might have some trouble doing thay as it has no brakes or tail shaft :laff:

Yeah was fully rebuilt, new rings, seals bearings, timing kit, gaskets, filters etc, just the norm. It come with another 2 blocks and heads when i brough the car so one of Dads best mates works engines so later on he is going to do a head and block for me for cost of parts, bore it out, shave it, bigger decked pistons, bigger valves, a cam and a coupple of su's or webber carbys to give it something.

Thanks man, yeah it does sound pretty tough ay :D

The left hand mirror is great thanks, finised cleaning and painting it and it come up so well, can wait to get it on the car. Thanks so much again :y:

I have no choice about buying them off ebay as mine only had one on it as the other one was smashed :( and where the car sits now is where it lives :sob: Dad kicked me out of the shed after it was near finised to put his cars back in the shed, that was the deal unfortunatly :n: Getting a storm proof car cover with a woolen flece lining for it though to give it some protection.

Cheers :)

i really like how this car has been done properly youve put a massive amount of effort in mate its really a credit to you

Cheers man, really appreciate it :y:
