just blink Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Most importantly we need you and your advice to enhance follow veiwers to enjoy what we all drive daily . I do believe we all have had our ups and downs in the process of building our dream car , to ensure projects are done properly ( we need your advice ). Now to start our topic on the KE55 corolla , " what is the most important advice to be givin when buying a KE55 " :fuzz: Quote
Twinky Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 I think that the most important thing to know is that the cars are over 20 years old so rust is unavoidable. Don't get too hung up when you find a car that you want and worry about 20c piece size rust spots. Generally people buy corollas because they are cheap so never expect mutch from them. Don't buy them if you think that you will become drift king because without thousands of dollars spent they just won't cut the cheese. The great thing about them is that there is a huge community of people here to support and help anyone out there willing to listen. Quote
just blink Posted April 12, 2011 Author Report Posted April 12, 2011 I myself have purchesed an immaculant KE55 just by pure luck at a very cheep price  . So on this topic i can not give to much advice othere than looking for rust in tight spots were you would not normaly look , such as under the carpet in the boot , driver and passanger floor panels , in the engine bay were important parts that need to be structualy strong , such as engine mounting , steering rack , brake booster and were the suspension is front and back. In other parts of the body are more or less cosmetic and easy to see and easy to fix that i know of , unless you no of different parts that i am not aware of ( and thats the point of the subject ). Can you help me and others on these unknowen obstacles :bash: Quote
jono1986 Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Rust in door sills, rust in rear pillars (coupe), make sure they haven't been in major front end accidents, rust in rear wheel arches that's all I have at the moment. Quote
ae824ate Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I'm also a new KE55 owner, and i think its the same as most other cars that are 20+ years old. Rust, flogged engines and gearbox's, crash history and repairs. The great thing IMO is the availability of parts and the price of them. And great forums like this one filled with great fellow owners always willing to help with any sensible questions and problems. I love you rollaclub  :lovin: Hahaha....
