ke70 all came out with borg warners I'm pretty sure

with a borg warner theres a plate at the back of the center that u can undo, opposite the tail shaft (like a commodore diff)

where as the jap doesnt have that

is a S series diff the same as a "jap" diff. Because didn't the early KE70s come out with S series diffs?

Spot on mate,

S Series jap diffs were fitted to flatfront ke70 se sedans built built before 1983. Borgwarner diffs were fitted to cs and xx models.

Ke70 panelvans however were fitted with s series leaf spung diffs from the factory.

Previous ae71 diff was a borgwarner. These have the backing plate.

are you sure your ke70 hadnt broken a diff and someone replaced it with an s series? was under the impression all australian ke70's were borg warner unless panelvan

Destroyer Nothing on my ke had been touched. I'm 110% sure all se spec 82 ke70s had s series diffs fitted from them factory.

When detailing under my ke I thought it shouldve had a borgie, but no. After poking around all the bolting points it had all the original red check marks from toyota which coinsided with the markings on the front suspension/steering assy too.

Since making this observation, I have counted 6 ke70s both in manual and auto with this diff.

This was a diff in an se down at the wreckers in January.

i reckon japs are stronger cause they would less flex thru the back plate (and most trucks run a banjo housing so they gotta be strong)

edit - ask slo-030 how strong diffs are :lolcry: 2 weeks strong :hmm:

No, thats the Uni Joints. On average of 1 uni/wk

Going Borgy, for the fact i can use a massively bigger tailshaft, with bigger (Holden 6cyl) uni joints, and the tailshaft will work with the W50 thats going in.

interesting, can you get a photo of your build plate?

its debatable, but personally i think the borgy is a stronger diff in general. wont snap as many axels as you would with an s series, but you get good and bad diffs with either.

I'll see what I can do :y:
