xangomatt Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Trying to put stereo into ke30, people who owned the car before me messed up the wiring so i have no idea what to hook the power supply on the sony stereo to? Should i just wire it to the battery or is there a better way? Quote
BReNt Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Get/make yourself a test light and use that to find a wire to tap into somewhere behind the dash. If that's no good then go to the battery. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Do you need constant power or accessory power? And as mentioned a test light ( http://www.ehow.com/how_7185940_make-12-volt-test-light.html gives you an idea i use 2 bits of wire and duct tape) works wonders. Quote
Jono.C Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I think from memory in a mates car we used the power wire to the cigarette lighter and just chucked a fuse on it Quote
Jesseb369 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I just hooked my earth to the shell and acc pwr to ciggy lighter and then tested some old stezza wires that were sitting there and the headunit display lit up and I knew I had tapped into a power source. Didn't even blow any fuses. Quote
Tiger Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 ^^^ As mentioned, always remember to ground (or earth) to the chassis/body of the car... If I can recall corectly on these models, the light puprle with the red tracer wire was your accessories wire and your constant (which I also stress... FUSE it), was red. I may be wrong. But if you see these wire, splice into them and test them with a test light ($5 from Jaycar!) Quote
