altezzaclub Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I used Crow for mine, there are a few big names for cams in Aussie. Tighe, Crow, Crane, Wade, Waggott. If you get lift over 0.4" you will need to change the valve springs, under that the stock ones are OK. Send the followers away as well & get them ground so the new cam has new followers to wear to. What else are you going to do?? The cam by itself won't do much. Quote
philbey Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 If you get lift over 0.4" you will need to change the valve springs, under that the stock ones are OK. Rubbish. 12 months of regular driving and .48 lift before I broke a valve spring. Quote

altezzaclub Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Usual stuff... cam, carb & exhaust... head skim helps, electronic dizzy is good but not necessary. Here's what I did- http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/42407-the-girls-ke70/page__p__445727__fromsearch__1#entry445727 Philbey that's pretty interesting. I thought the springs started coil-binding above 0.4" in which case they would bend something quite soon. I suppose there is quite a safety margin in the cam grinder's figures. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Or..... get a 5K. A much better base to start with. Quote
ae824ate Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Or..... get a 5K. A much better base to start with. :y: Or even save your coin up, and go all out on a K engine, or maybe look at a cheap conversion. As said above, just a cam won't do much on a stock donk, depending on the specs i guess. Do a quick google search on cam lift and duration info, there is heaps of helpfull shit on the internet, and it will help you understand how it all works. Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 If you changing your cam I recommend getting extractors to feel the affects of your new cam, But you should know a Worked 4k will just keep up with a bog standard 5k. Look around for a 5k should pick up 1 for $100-$400 they came out of Toyota liteaces and Hiace (Plenty off wrecked 1's around ) And should be legal in your state and is pretty much a bolt in... Quote
