YLD 10S Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Tried to get the plates [YSO 51Y] , and they said it would be an extra $500 at least for them. Why? Is it so bad that I skip some rego letters and select my own combination but not fully customized? But by luck i ended up getting the number plate [YHI 45K] so i guess its ok then haha. But still, charging $500 extra is redonkulous! Rather spend the $500 on better things... Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I get Why Ask out of the ones you got, but what the hell did the first one say?? Quote
ke70dave Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 "why so sly" ? about all i can get out of it. Quote
Sloth Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Yeah, the ACT customised plate costs are apparently stupid. I'm pretty sure in Vic you can choose a standard plate that isn't taken for like $50. It's always confused me a little how they work out the costs for personalised plates. At the end of the day you a doing them a favour, the whole point of number plates is to differentiate cars, therefore personalised plates make the car more unique. Much easier to remember that the guy doing burnouts in your street has a number plate of "HOONIN" than "YGH43P" Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Try get 5 letters on a plate in QLD. $2295. Quote
YLD 10S Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 Try get 5 letters on a plate in QLD. $2295. Wowzers! haha Yeah the origional plate I wanted was 'Y So Sly' or I wanted [YKE.55Y] just to have a Y in between KE55 but no, that would be too easy to do that, they had to tell me to custom order that aswell :/ Quote

When I was living in Melbourne a few years back there was a ruckus because vicroads had been "busted" for overcharging for custom plates, they were only legally allowed to pass on the actual cost of creating custom ones. As usual though, they changed the legislation not the prices. Quote
