WET.K30 Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 thanks mate I'm reading threw that now, the problem I'm getting is the two spark plugs fuled by the first carby are getting fouled up, id say its safe to assume this is caused by the tuneing of the carbys. haha but then again I'm 16 and this is my first car, what do i know?? am i on the right track? TE278U Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 I witnessed a car with the same problem yesterday. easy fix, was dirty fuel jamming open the needle and seat, causing excess fuel. blew the needle and seat clean with mouth, reassemble, car ran perfectly. not saying that this will be your problem, but it's an easy thing to check. ;) all the best... -Dave Quote

corollaart Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Where these jeted right to suit your engine or just put on to see what happens??They are fiddley buggars to get right. First you need to get your FUEL PRESSURE right 2.5-4.5 psi if this is not right your wasting your time doing any think else. Venturi 4.5,chokes 28,main jets 115,e tubes f11,idle jet50f9,pumpjet.35,air jet1.60.this should get some where close to right. To get it running properly get it on a dyno ,if you can find any one that no,s what there doing with webers .(harder than you think) But worth every cent  rob Quote

There is plenty of info on weber style carbs on the internet, one thing I read suggested that if your float level wasn't set properly, it won't matter what else you do, you won't get them running right, so checking float level is the most important. then I would buy a cheap carby balancing device, or make one as per the guide on the internet. once the carbs are balanced (they each are sucking the same amount of air, then you can worry about how much fuel is being fed to them. hopefully all this has been done properly before hand and you won't have to fiddle too much, because it can be labour intensive. but once you know what you're doing, you can make good power with these carbs. good luck. -dave Quote
altezzaclub Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 if your float level wasn't set properly, it won't matter what else you do, you won't get them running right Yep!! Start with that- both float levels set correctly, then check all the jets are the same and clean. Make sure the dizzy cap is clean and good, and timing set where it should be. It would be embarassing to spend hours on the carb and find the dizzy cap shorting out through a dirt crack.. Same if you finally found they were running two different sets of jets! Then get the airflow the same and lastly the mixture. You can listen through a tube, or buy an airflow meter, but if you get the meter make sure you listen as well. Easy when you've done it a few times and they are great carbs! I'd love to come and help, my palms get itchy when I hear Webers on full throttle... They should sound like this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZV_Uw_UnNg Quote
