ALiXoV3rDoS3 Posted July 23, 2011 Author Report Posted July 23, 2011 Okay, Thanks for that. Lucky I didn't jump out and just buy it! It sounded overpriced anyways though. (: Melbournes quite the drive from here... Hmm... Quote
carbonboy Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Also, FINALLY GOT MY F*CKING L's TODAY!!! Sorry, had to be said that way. God, I nearly just tear the hubcaps off and paint the hubs black. Congratulations man! :y: Paint the steel rims either satin or gloss black and put on a set of chrome 13" trim rings :y: Yes!! I have been pleasantly surprised how much better this makes a car look for minimal amount of dollars input  Other thing i would recommend would be 2" lowered springs and some wheels. Will look real good then. Have fun... Along with front strut braces & a rear swaybar from 4AGE model? These will make wonderful differences to your cars handling & wont add to the 'cop bait' factor :) & be safe out there! Good choice for an L plater car, they're easy to maneuver, are more forgiving than some other cars in handling terms and economical. And they're hardly cop bait if you keep this one through your P's. :fuzz: You might want to source a tacho dash later on, or if you're 100% on a 4age conversion, just get a dash from an AE93 (6 gauge cluster) +1 So Today, I made a trip out to T&A'a (The local wreckers) and had a quick waltz around looking for some parts. I FOUND WHAT I WANTED! But, I gotta know if you guys think I'm getting ripped or not. So, The guys at T&A's said: $50 for the left tailight off of this 'Rolla ...And, $80 for the tach dash out of a Holden Nova. I decided I'm not going to just jump out and buy them, but come back here first and ask honest opinions. Also, smart idea to go buy the Service Manual for the 89-92 Corolla/Nova from Repco? $50 does sound expensive for just the one tail light :hmm: Cruised the For Sale - Car Parts section to see what one including postage (if necessary) would cost? If you can hold off buying bits immediately, shopping around is always a good idea. $80 for the cluster...I'd be grabbing every bracket/screw as well to get my moneys worth. But seems the going rate :( Service manuals are one of the best investments for you & your car! With one of these & some basic tools, you will save yourself the original purchase price of them many times over if/when this break/go wrong. (IMHO) Quote
ALiXoV3rDoS3 Posted July 24, 2011 Author Report Posted July 24, 2011 Thanks carbonboy. Probably won't head back out to T&A's unless I'm snagging some more photographs. I'll shop around for those parts online and maybe in Wagga. Definately grabbing that service manual when I can too. Also. With the Tacho dash, how do I hook up the tach seems the original didn't have it? (Major n00b question. I'm aware.) Quote
ALiXoV3rDoS3 Posted September 27, 2011 Author Report Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) Well today I discovered something new... There's a $1 coin behind my horn in the steering wheel... So, question. How do I get it out? Edited September 27, 2011 by ALiXoV3rDoS3 Quote
Ben-89 Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Alex what you need to do is gently prize off the horn pad (from the top) which has the corolla badge in it. With the tips of your fingers slip them between the horn pad and steering wheel plastic cover on the back of the wheel and pull away until it comes off. Disconnect the battery if you don't want to make noise as I just did :) Putting it back on just make sure the two clips line and with your palm hit it back on and it should be fine :y: Quote
ALiXoV3rDoS3 Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Thanks for that. I just wasn't sure how easily the horn came off, I'd have hated to have busted my steering wheel just for a buck. EDIT: Managed to break a clip on the horn... FU- Now it's wonky, anyone got a spare? I know the wreckers will overprice it big time. Edited September 28, 2011 by ALiXoV3rDoS3 Quote
Kid-Ae Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Things like that at the wreckers - Go in with a messy toolbox, throw them in at the bottom, pretend you couldn't find what you were after and walk out.. But seriously, if you want a tacho cluster for these badboys, don't pay more than about $60 including a warranty. Make sure it's the Corolla one not the Nova, less tacky If you have any other questions with this model car just ask. I had way too much fun tearing old bucket apart time after time Quote
