rollalicious Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 So my ke30 is slipping whenever i put any sort of power into it but is still driveable, as compared to when i bought it 2 weeks ago and had a very late engage point but still fine. Assuming it's the clutch how much should I expect to pay for parts & fitment? Haha everything is completely stock but is their an improvement or special type to think about? Ignore the possibility that it could be out of adjustment for now :) THANKYOU Quote
Evan G Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 parts pbr hd clutch $100 extreme hd $180 exedy hd $280 fitting depends on your mechanic Quote
Old fella Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 G`day mate, what Evan said except, buy a workshop manual and install the clutch yourself. It a simple enough job if you can follow instructions and have a basic tool kit. It`s good to learn and never have to pay workshop prices again. Cheers. Quote
altezzaclub Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Get the $100 one- actually it cost me $75 a year back. The 4K never puts out enough power to worry it unless you plan dropping the clutch at 4500rpm or kicking it in and revving it to slide the car, both abhorrent activities! :laff: Don't forget to undo the driveshaft and leave it in the back of the gearbox, or oil will pour out all over the floor. If its not clean under there now, take it down to a DIY carwash and water-blast it. Its much nicer to work on a semi-clean car! Aligning the new clutch plate in the center of the flywheel is the hard part. Buy one of the plastic shaft tools if you can't get it right. I just assemble the clutch lightly and look down the middle with a small torch to get all the circles concentric, seems to work. Quote
ke70dave Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 geez your clutch must really be screwed for a k motor to slip it!:P haha yeah the exedy ones are the way to go, nice and cheap and easy to get. just go a standard one like altezza said. k motor gearboxes are so light and small, and the bolts are so easy to get to, few hours should knock the job over! rollalicious Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 so It's adjusted to earliest possible engagement now and made a big improvement for a little bit, but its back to its old tricks now.geez your clutch must really be screwed for a k motor to slip it Haha its a one owner grandma car (met the 85 year old myself) 140,000kms and the two things on the way out when I bought it were the clutch & diff :hmm: driveshaft and leave it in the back of the gearbox, or oil will pour out all over the floor.[ I've had a look at the manual and yeah looks doable -I'm a bike mechanic and owning this car is only going to get cheaper the more I do. The tips & tricks are what I'm looking for as there is always an easier way that someone else has found :y: Quote
