madKE35coupe Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) hey guys and gals. just outside of town i saw an old crown sitting in this blokes yard. i have driven past it countless times and have never had a chance to have a look. i had a g/f free lunch hour today so i thought i might have a look. turns out its an MS65 sedan, not sure of year exactly but i know its running a 4M with a 5 speed, air con and electronic ignition. it has been sitting for a while so there is rust in the usual places, but all chrome is intact and in good condition. the bloke wants a few hundred for it, so i thought i might speak up to my fellow toyota fans and see whether it would be worth it? cheers brendan Edited March 2, 2011 by madKE35coupe Quote
Gavclassic Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Most likely a 4 speed ?, never seen a factory 5 speed. Make sure its got power steering, the go well in a manual. Quote
madKE35coupe Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 the owner was pretty sure it was 5 speed, and i didnt even check to see if it had powere steering. should have looked abit more closely Quote
silverra23 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 ms65 is cool. as evidenced by this one Quote
madKE35coupe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 unfortunately its not in quite as good condition as that one, would need a fair bit of work. but the end result would be worth it i reckon Quote
parrot Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Looks like a great deal, but only if you want to do it. Quote
madKE35coupe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 Yeah I reckon. Not only that he has two more sitting in the yard for spares, wonder if he would do a package deal? Quote
20vT Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Even if it is only a 5 speed it shouldnt be too had to make 5 speed M - W series bellhousing a W5X box. I say go for it, they look nice would make a great cruiser Quote
madKE35coupe Posted March 6, 2011 Author Report Posted March 6, 2011 It is going to need a fair bit of work though. Were the 4m and 5 speed strong? I have had no experience with crowns before so this is all new to me Quote
