lukemo1982 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 does anyone have a roundabout price for this conversion and if its the best choice or point me in the right direction of who knows cheers! Quote
ke70dave Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 how much have you researched yourself? its the same as a 4age conversion, with an intercooler + pipes. and in a ke30, its custom everything. Quote
lukemo1982 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 rounabout 4 or 5 grand at least i think? Quote
seabiscuit Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 rounabout 4 or 5 grand at least i think? If you want it road legal, add another $5000 minimum. That is if you get someone else to do the work. Nevertheless, it might still cost over $5000 to do the conversion yourself if you want it road legal. If you've never done an engine conversion before, I'd suggest a 5K. It's a really fun engine, when worked well, for a KE30 and won't set you back more than $2000. It really is something that just about ANYONE can do, and it will give you an idea of what's involved in a custom engine conversion. You can then focus the rest of your hard earned on making the car handle really well, which is something a lot of young drivers forget about when doing a conversion. 2 Quote
KeelzaMate Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 10k+ if you want it to be reliable. 1 Quote
Sloth Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 I'd say work out how much all the parts will cost (engine, gearbox, loom, intercooler, bits and pieces), then add 25-50%, then double that (to account for labour if you aren't doing it yourself), then add another 1k-3k for a engineers cert (depending on state, in vic it costs about 1k last I saw, but in act these days it's 2k+), then add about another 1-3k to account for things you will need to change for the engineers cert (brakes etc). I'd say (realistically) you'd be looking at 10-15k. There's some places you can call (toyospares etc). When I was looking at getting the engine changed in my 86 I was quoted around 5k for a bigport 4AGE without the exhaust and things like brake upgrades (and that's a fairly easy conversion). When I was looking at getting a ZE a year and a half ago I was told they are starting to become a little rare (you are probably looking 2k+). http://www.toyospares.com.au/2.html That page is a little hard to understand, but it translates to "not that cheap". As dave mentioned, on a 30 it's all custom... Quote
lukemo1982 Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 yea i guess its my daily driver i was thinkin about juz doin a 5k but it would be good to see a 4age or somethin like that in the long run. Quote
