dividee Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 hey guys ive just recently fitted a surge tank setup in my car. However now my engine is not getting enough fuel as the car is not running smoothly and is misfiring. Ive double checked all the hoseing and everything looks to be in the right spot. I'm thinking the fuel pump is not pumping enough fuel?? Also when i switch the car to start the fuel pump doesnt prime, only until i completely turn the car on then it decides to pump fuel. If anybody can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Quote
Trev Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Car? Engine? What fuel pump set up are you running, do you have a pick up pump and a high pressure pump? The fuel pump will be set up to turn on with oil pressure as a safety device. Quote
dividee Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 hi trev its 4age sprinter. I'm running a facet style lift pump and possibly a bosch 070 or 044 fuel pump (came with car) thats about it. Any idea what it could be?? Quote
Trev Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Have you got the lowest point of the surge tank feeding into the bosch pump, the facet feed above that and the return to the tank above that? Is the return from the engine bay going back to the surge tank or to the fuel tank? Quote
dividee Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 yep everything is correct. Lowest point to fuel pump > fuel rail. Than return from engine to surge and overflow back to fuel tank Quote
Trev Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Can you get some pics? I would say that you may have to hook the Facet up to ignition power so you can prime the system before the car starts but even then it should be supplying enough fuel to fill the tank. Quote

I know you shouldn't, that is what I said. Bolded part, it pays ton read a thread before you comment. Quote
