WET.K30 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 hey evrione i recently installed twin 40m dcoe webbers on my ke30 - 4k and the F*$ken inlet manifold flange was 3mm thicker than the exhuast flange this is a problem as they share the same bolt!! so only the inlet manifold will get tightend. has anyone else had this problem? what did u do to fix it? thanks for your help :) Quote
bLinded_ Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Yep same problem. Just machine the intake flange down to the right thickness where the bolts/studs are. Dremel should do it nicely. Quote
WET.K30 Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 haha why dident i think of that. lol i was thinking of makeing step washers or something? but ud think redline could get it right aye? thanks dude Quote
philbey Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 It's very hard to get a casting prefectly flat, don't blame redline it's a pretty standard problem with. Plus extractors (if you have them) have thinner lasercut flanges than the factory cast exhaust flanges. Don't waste time and money machining it, us a file on the nut face of the flange. I filed mine down carefully, it's free and easy, it's only Aluminium. Best that you never touch the head side of the manifold if possible. Quote
parrot Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Yes you would think they would get it right. How long would they have been making these things. Perhaps a customer could try and call their technical person to advise them. Quote
philbey Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 They've probably never changed their pattern or their machining program/jigs/fixtures and likely wont anyway. Honestly it's better to have too much than to have not enough. Quote
WET.K30 Posted February 21, 2011 Author Report Posted February 21, 2011 did u guys also fing the bolt very hard to get to? and could some one possibly post a photo of there accelerator cable-linkagaee/setup Quote
philbey Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Bolts are tricky if you're a first timer. Practice young padawan. Work on a few cars and you'll realise how easy it is to take the manifolds off a K engine! Quote
WET.K30 Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 ok i f@$ked it, anyone got another twin weber manifold they wana sell? Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Nah- repair it. What broke? Almost anything can be fixed... Quote
ninja-philbo Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 yeah go take an exhaust manifold off a 7mgte took me 2 days and lots of cuts and nasty words Quote
WET.K30 Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 i ground it down to far Quote
ninja-philbo Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 washers or take it to a fab joint get them to build it back up and machined down to what u want Quote
coln72 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Alloy welding young man and if its a decent shop they should be able to spot face the under the bolt heads to the right thickness. Anyway, what happened to using old nails ect as spacers....... you younguns have no imagination :rolls: Quote
