BUZ440 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Yeah get a license to carry explosives, and yeah a 50 shot of gas might sound silly, but its quick and easy power Quote
Bullet55 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 what weber officer? :fuzz: Rofl, just take the head off and shave it to you get the compression ratio to around 12 ;) Quote
seabiscuit Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Glad I live in the ACT! Those laws are ridiculous. It really ruins the fun for genuine enthusiasts that are into classic cars, who also like to keep up with traffic. Rant over. Quote
agius Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 thank god i don't live there eather, by now i would of got beat up by police and the yellow pages for sure! hahah Quote
coln72 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Well the engine was in bad condition before the rebuild officer. The head was warped and needed to be shaved, the bore was scratched and needed to be taken out a bit. What it makes more power? Didnt realise that sir...... I'm sure with a bit of thought and creativity you can improve the performance a resonable amount without anyone knowing ;) Quote

coln72 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Or slot in the 5k as has been said before. Ran a KE35 with twin carbies and not one police officer picked that the engine had been changed, or commented on the twins, or that it had NO pollution gear at all, etc..... Quote
Jono.C Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Or slot in the 5k as has been said before. Ran a KE35 with twin carbies and not one police officer picked that the engine had been changed, or commented on the twins, or that it had NO pollution gear at all, etc..... That's interesting, The police assumed my car had an engine conversion because it's loud. I said 'Doesn't have anything to do with the extractors and straight through 2.25" system at all'? He's like nah nah you young street racings switching this and changing that. Eventually cconvinced him by showing him the engine number and comparing it to the firewall.. Quote
coln72 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Think I got away with it cause I spent a bit of time making it all neat, tidy and looking factory. Should of been pinged for being to low etc but seemed to get away with things....... Quote
Andy43 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Weber, cam and quiet exhaust. & a 5speed! The Weber looks enough like the stock carb, the cam doesn't want to be more than 270deg, and if you keep the exhaust quiet no-one will notice it. Best way to fail... matt black, or more than one colour, chopped springs, wide wheels, no bumpers, 2" exhaust and cannon, no air filter for wild induction noise... and drive it like you stole it! :laff: Altezza is on the Money. I like to add First up Google this book and get it. Four-Stroke Performance Tuning by A. Grahame Bell ISBN 978 1 84425 314 2 Read it every night. Mod the stuff they cannot see. Shave and port the head, ensure you port match to inlet manfold. (Check the head type and ensure you use the high comp head and you have flat top pistons ) Mild Cam. Get the flywheel lightened. Replace the thermostat with a tridon tt240-160, this gave us 2 hp on the dyno. Thermo fan it. Bigger pulley for the alternator ???? Commodore ones fit, Dyno stayed the same but the theory is good. Recurve Dissy On our last dyno trip we also picked up a few horses by throwing the performance aircleaner one in the bin, and modifying a stock one, We cut the sides out of it and blocked the hot air intake. Don't lower the car, and make sure the exhaust looks stock, Plan to do the lowering and extractors later, Same goes for window tint. The k series engines are a great motor to play with. You wont make mega HP, but there a great learning ground, And simple to work on, unless your alternatior dies. Andy Quote

Rant over. i agree i hate it i believe u shouldnt be able to turbo cars that are quick when there stock (skylines, supras, commys) but the poor little 4k needs something to help her keep up aye Quote

Andy43 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Gotta be kidding Andy? Alternators are a piece of piss :P Hmmm too many beers, Got all confused with the pulley thing, Its the starter I was refering too .:bash: We keep melting on solder joints inside the things, I suppose this is good as it means the young bloke is putting his foot down. Nice Pickup Cheers Andy Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Wrap the headers Andy. Atrocious piece of design putting the starter and alty under the exhaust, but you can keep them cooler. Quote
