Xany Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 gday peoples.... on the weekend i had a little bit of time to muck around with the dash lights in grover...i was sick of the green tinge they had because of the blue cover they have over the yellow globe. So i intended to fix it....by installing blue LED's into the bulb holders....thanks to Ruts suggestion (and the spare bulb he gave me). the result was good
Ke50 Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 geez that looks awsome! how much of the dash did you have to pull out to do that? is it very fiddley?
Super Jamie Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005  just the dash cluster tim, it's easy as is it just me or is that HEAPS brighter than stock? that's always sucked about corolla instruments, they end up dimmer than the tacho i was thinking of changing over to just white LEDs in the ke25, but at $10/pair i had better things to spend the cash on at the time before i tried it
ROLLN'03 Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 Nice work! Could a nice little upgrade to any old rolla!........
Medicine_Man Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 That looks bloody awesome.. :lmao:
ROLLN'03 Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Do the ke55 like Grover have that pointed piece of plastic on each seperate guage like the ke30 series? :sigh: Or have you removed it Xany?.......... :lmao:
Xany Posted October 12, 2005 Author Report Posted October 12, 2005 its.....GOOONNNNNEEEEEE!!!! lol....yeah i removed both and replaced them with flat plastic...i hate the look of them... just for future reference, you'll need three LEDs to do this, theres one behind where the clock is, one behind the speedo and also behind the other cluster. The lights are actually about the same brightness, it just looks brighter because the photo was taken in long exposure.
ROLLN'03 Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 yeah, the pointed lenses look a tad wierd..... :lmao: Sounds like a plan to me! As Jamie said, the original lights are real dull - definately need upgrading. Ill only need two, cause my clock is gone, replaced with taco and then replaced again with 5" taco + external shiftlight! :sigh:
ROLLN'03 Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 YEAH, ItS LiKE FuLLy HEkTiK, N MaKES mE DRiFT HArDCoRE!
Xany Posted October 12, 2005 Author Report Posted October 12, 2005 (edited) you will still need three LEDs, i tried it with 2 and it just looks weird cause the left side of the speedo doesnt get any light. With the third one in, it looks a shitheap better. btw, my clock is gone too..:lmao: Edited October 12, 2005 by Xany
ROLLN'03 Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Oh, OK..... I see now..... Ill try it one day. :lmao: " No.. the taco... " Yeah, the external Taco gives me like 300+HP at all four wheels! ( <-- Insert Sarcasm here )
Corolla_Kid Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 I had the same idea funnily enough but haven't pursued it due to the fact i will need 4 and its a bitch to get to the back of my gauges.
