Super Jamie Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 so like, what does everyone do in the small amount of time they aren't either in a corolla, around a corolla, thinking about a corolla or looking at pictures of corollas? i'll start the ball rolling during the day i wear a tie. i work full time for a small business who repair computers for businesses (small and large), as well as contract service work for companies like coles/myer and woolworths, plus fix ATMs and bank hardware. i do a mix of all these things. i usually am on the road, driving around to various places fixing things. i mostly take a new holden combo out and about, my work does have an ae112 seca but my workmate jared usually steals that. yes, my place of employment owns a corolla, and it's because of me :D in my spare time, i live on my own in a 2 bedroom unit (soon to change). i like to listen to music (aussie hiphop, industrial stuff, electronic rubbish). i like to go out and consume large quantities of bourbon. i have a computer i built for my tv which i watch alot of jackass on, plus many car videos (like every episode of initial D, for free) i work on my cars in my garage at my house, where there are many shelves and K motor parts and tools. i also rent a shed about 15 minutes away that's big enough to work on 2 cars comfortably, it also doubles as a cheap spraybooth i own a 1972 ke25 which is becoming the drive car. a 1975 ke35 which is currently a primered shell with a diff and front struts and a wiring loom. a 1975 ke30 that got crashed into and has been used for parts and profit. i am considering getting my hands on a ke70 which has been defected due to chassis damage, for more parts (i love K motors) in the future, i see myself driving a ke25 within a week or two. then i will save money and finish my ke35. at some point i would like to build my tough 4k and get efi going on it Quote
JapTastic Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Hey, my name is David. I've grown up with Japanese cars and bikes since I was born. My mum, dad and their friends have always been involved in car/motorbike racing so I figure I can at least partially blame them, and appreciate that having a father in the industry helps. I like driving. I like Japanese cars. I'm not model or make biased, I like the shapes, styling, handling characteristics and differences of many of them. I've already got myself a bit of a collection, but only four of my cars are on the road at the moment. I love collecting and restoring/modifying cars, and I'm bound to get more, I don't like it when its rego and insurance time. I live by myself in a two bedroom unit close-ish to the city, its location is good, but I only have 2 car spots which is rather annoying as I have to leave my other cars in my parents garage down the coast. I go to uni to do a bachelor of surveying. Being a student and liking cars leads to being very broke student. I've found a coffee and a smoke IS a substitute for a good breakfast. For other meals, I like noodles or sushi. I can use chopsticks, but not as a weapon. I don't like yumcha, but the trolley weilding waitresses are sometimes quite hot. Recently I've been taught to count time, though I have no musical talent. However I do like listening to music, of all types. From industrial Front Line Assembly, to Cake, to techno/trance, to Jpop/Jhiphop Fantasitic Plastic Machine / M-Flo. I can juggle 3 clubs (but i drop them a lot) or 3 balls with some extra tricks. I can't ride a unicycle nor do I have a clown suit. I like anime and manga. I liked Robotech when I was young, so atm I'm excited, as Macross Zero has just been released. I also buy too many japanese car magazines/videos, I like Option and Option2 magazine to keep up with the current Jap trends, but also love J's Tipo and Nostalgic Hero, the old japanese cars, especially in period streetracer or competition guise look fantastic and give me many wallet threatening ideas. For the future... Finishing my damn degree. Getting the Sprinter prepped for competition racing. Not to be at the pointy end of the field, it takes too much money for that, but just for the experience. More work on my other cars ( you can never *really* say finished) and the purchase of a couple more. Make my woeful webpage better. Thats enough for people to read.... Quote

Have a passion for Toyota Corollas & Ford Escorts, In my spare time I like working on cars (My Corolla was fully restored, taken back to bare metal) Kind of a qualified KE70 expert to say.. Hopefully in the near future I can take on another project Corolla, though not before I put a 4AGE into my KE70. Quote
demuire Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I am Fook. I'm from Malaysia, and I'm an international student here in Australia doing a Bachelor of IT (Hons). I'm hoping to get residency here in Australia, as blonde women are more fun (jk!). Seriously though, I like it here. I finish my honours degree in 18 days, and between now and then I have my thesis to finish, and 3 exams. It's getting rather exciting. I even had a big presentation today, that was a lot of fun... (can you sense the sarcasm?) Umm... I think I'm one of those people who like a lot of things, but nothing really in particular. For most of my life though, I've had something for cars, automobiles in general. I'm not a bike person. No one in my family is really into cars, my dad talks about them sometimes and knows a lot, but he doesn't do any mechanical work as such. When I was a kid I used to stand outside workshops and watch them fix cars the good old Malaysian way with several of the Special Service Tools (hammer, crowbar, things like that). It still amazes me that they still fix cars this way, I took my Satria GTi into the workshop when I was back in December to have an exhaust mount welded up as my mom somehow broke it and was driving around for a few months with the exhaust half falling off... And I just stood there with my jaw dropped at the way they fixed it... They proved that you can fix anything with a big hammer and an oxy torch. I've been driving since I was 12, but have had little mechanical experience with cars until the past 12 months or so. I've been especially into cars for the past 2 and a bit years or so, since I got my Lancer GSR. Before that, I was just your run-off-the-mill rice boy with an Excel with mags, lowered suspension and a loud exhaust (chrome tip and all). I've since learnt that there is a lot more to handling and power than making the car lower and the exhaust bigger. I own a 1981 KE55 Corolla. This is my 4th car in 4 years, I've owned 5 to date. I originally bought this as a runaround because I needed a car and I didn't have money because I wrote my GSR off at Willowbank; I intended to spend no money on it, and sell it come 12 months. I've since learnt to love the car, and have no plans to sell it anytime soon. It is a bit of a POS, it even broke down today (again), but it is cheap to run and keeps me entertained. Future plans for it include an LSD rear end, a 4AGE or 4AGZE, some suspension work, removal of rust, new seats, stuff like that. Only heaven knows if I'll ever get there. I'm not a die-hard-Corolla-only fan, I like many sorts of cars from Datto1200's to Z's to Skylines, WRX's and Evos, and most things in between. I'm also a fan of Beemers, Porsches, and some other Euro cars. I don't really care about who makes the car, if it is a good car, I'm there. When I'm not oogling a car, tinkering with a car or at uni, I work as a Systems Developer for QUT. I design, develop and maintain applications. I also spend a lot of my working time talking to people, sometimes just about nothing, and at other times actually about work. And then there is the odd coffee break or walk down the road for some fresh air... I can't juggle or do a backflip or anything flashy like that, although I've always wanted to. I can sort of play the guitar, but I can honestly say I really suck at it. I can also sort of play the electronic organ, the drums, the recorder and several other instruments, but like the guitar, I also suck at those. I listen to all sorts of music, although it mostly revolves around R&B, alternative and pop. The only music I don't really listen to is trash metal and all the other things that well.. I don't really consider music. I have done a bit of latin dancing, mostly salsa and merengue, and I also rock climb. In fact I have an indoor wall in my house. Umm... Yeah, that's me. Quote
Spanky Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 my name is Shane and just for something different my job has nothing to do with computers :D . I work at a JB hifi in Brisbane, in which i can can be found working in the cd section. I am a self confessed music freak with most of my money spent going on cd's, nearly more than i spend on cars. I am into mainly heavy metal and alternative music. If anyone needs a new tv, dvd, assorted shit like that i am the man that can secure the deals, although you can get stolen goods cheaper if you wish to go down that line. I did own an ae86 sprinter but parted ways with it because i needed a daily driver and it got to the stage where it needed to be pulled off the road and rebuilt etc. So know i have purchased myself the latest corolla which is currently showroom stock but that will change as time progresses. It is black so i am thinking some tinting and large chromies with the appropriate lowering should suffice for a while at least. I live with my parents, i lived out of home but spent way to much money on shit so decided to bite the bullet and lose a touch of freedom but you get that. And that's about it really Quote
irokin Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Well...thats alot to follow! I'm Ben, Ive lived in SE Queensland all my life (yea all 17 years!) 15 of that spent in the little country town of Esk on 8 acres and access to probably thousands! I have a sorta freaky birthday being September 11 (11-09-85) but last year was alright...no one was too busy bitching about the terror attack to forget :D Ive been interested in cars for a fair while and more thoroughly interested in the last 6-12 months. Got my first car when I was...umm...shit....12? I think it was. Had it for 3-4 years but then had to sell it because we moved to the city. It was a Holden Belmont HZ with a Red motor. Mad to burn around the paddock in! The car department was dry for a few years until I got my learners. LOVED driving...drove every second I could! Got my P's first go with 2 crosses for "failing to indicate" (hey...so I indicated late!). The guy being one of dads old work mates had nothing to do with me passing! I SWEAR (no sarcasm intended). A few months ago my grandparents got a new car and gave me the corolla I learnt how to drive a manual in to me! :D I accually didnt used to like corollas but I guess its an aquired taste for me. But now I LOVE my corolla. It was in a pretty shithouse condition when I got it. Ive tuned the engine, replaced a few consumables (oil, all the filters, tyres and so on) and now I'm about to replace and upgrade the gearbox from a K-40 to a K-50. Needs a new radiator and probably new rockers and some other shit. Its been around the clock once already (99,999 miles). Ive put 6000 miles on the clock already and am probably gonna put many many more on (how about around the clock again). I'm currently "studying" a Diploma of Information Technology with the view to upgrading to a Bachelor of Information Technology at QUT. I'm currently a pizza delivery driver (go on laugh) but at least it pays the bills for the car and provides for me to put some upgrades on it. I live with my parents and have no view to move out in the near future. I'm happy where I am. Well thats me in a nutshell! Quote
demuire Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Spanky: Heh, you could almost be my best friend :D I've been looking at a pair of Sennheiser headphones for awhile now, are there any deals on them? :D Quote

Wood§tok Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Thought i better post here so those that don't know me can try to understand me better. My real name is Ben, but i go under several aliases. Woodstok on this forum and on mIRC, SuperCamry on Boostcruising.com and sometimes even Silent Bob because if i chuck on a trenchy i apparently resemble him. i am very good friends with Grim and i was one of the first bunch of people in this club. i hold moderator status on this forum so don't be stupid around me - i generally don't like to use my nazi skills too often... anyways, i think i am the most obsesed person in australia when it comes to camrys. camrys are like big corrolas. i love them. my mum had one (an SV20 we bought brand spanking new in 1989) and i learnt to drive in it. since then ive owned 2 more camrys (SV20 1990 and SV21 1992)- all the same shape but different year builds. the first one i bought i wrote off a month later, but it was alright cause Funcorp payed me more in insurance than i actually paid for the car. i promptly bought another one and have began to transform it. its the most standoutish camry you will see in aus due to big 17" wheels, lowered suspension and orange GT racing stripes. it has lots of stickers (rice) on it too but they all are there because i have products by the respective manufacturers. it also has a largeish sterio and neon interior lighting. performance mods are subtle at this point in time due to $$$ but i have everything planned for it. currently it has a pod filter in place of the airbox, a custom high flow cat and a haltek piggyback chip so the engine runs better on PULP. for a camry it goes OK but its still not a ball tearer. to tear balls i will be putting a ST205 celica GT4 turbo engine in it and fitting a front mount intercooler and a straight through 2-1/4 inch zorst dumping right infront of the rear wheels on the driver side - aiming for 200kw at the gearbox, (much better than the standard 88kw.) I'm not going to bother with an exhaust untill i get the new engine because i don't wanna waste money on extractors just to make the current engine sound better. and a cat back exhaust is out of the question because i hate the farty noise that you get. i have found a bodykit for it and it keeps getting cheaper each day. team SC3 (southern california camry club) pointed me to Erebuni and i really like what they got. the whole kit (front bar, skirts and rear bar) should cost no more than a grand to get over here. even better is its a bolt on kit that simply replaces the current bumpers. once i get the kit on it will be copping a full respray in the new ford xr6 orange. all this when i get off my arse and start saving money. esitmations mean i need about 12g's to do all of that. my fiancee might have something to say about that however... enough about my car. I am 23 in about month and currently between jobs. i live in clayfield with my fiancee. i enjoy all forms of motorsport and i like maintaining my fishtank. i used to work at brisbane car sound so i am quite proficiant at wiring and sub box building. i also like to think i know a bit about car audio brands and specifications. my favorites are Panasonic cause they make fantastic headunits. kicker or soundstream for their amplifiers, and JBL speakers because they are the best as far as affordable brands go. alpine also have some great gear but i don't like their HUs. i am 3/4 through a Batchelor of Music - New Media but i have defered currently. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go back and finish it next year. i know a heap about audio technology and digital syntesis. i enjoy making musc (generally techno) with my computer and my brothers effects proccessor. Currently i don't have a licence because my standard camry willfully made unnccissary noise in the wet. so much noise that the police could hear it 150 metres down the road... yeah, right. anyways, for that reason SuperCamry is off the road totally gutted and today i should finish rewiring all the electronic bits ready for a new interior. i get my licence back late october (just in time for Jamboree) but i will still be going on cruises that are organized. my fiancee likes to drive anyways... hope to see you all soon.
