kickn5k Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 I'll cc my bigport tomoz as it's at work and I'll post it up for you. It looks like it's about half the difference between my flat top piston 4k head and my 10.2:1 with the big dish piston 5k head(by eye). I also have a big chamber head at work so while I've got the burrete out I'll check that too. sorry forgot to post up bigport specs over the weekend. My bigport head is 24.5cc the other 4k head had no valves in it so grabbed em this morning and I'll cc it today. Stu. Quote
philbey Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Just found my own list of specs on my engine when I calculated compression. My head combustion chamber was 18cc. Specs: Bore Diameter: 3.248 inches Stroke: 2.874in Cylinders: 4 Combustion Volume: 18cc Crown-Deck distance: -0.0118in Piston Valve Relief: 0 Compressed Gasket Thk: Uncertain of this, you mentioned they are usually 5 thou. Gasket Bore Diameter: 3.268in Piston Dish Volume: 8cc Outer diameter of piston at crown: 3.177in Piston crown to rind land distance: 0.276in I ran this through my compression calculator and It comes up in the high 12:1 etc. Even with lots of cam, It’ll be around 11:1 etc. Quote
johnvica Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Ordered the 2mm copper gasket, see how that goes. Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Philbey do you use a head gasket sealant when you're assembling high-comp engines?? Hylomar or Permatex or something? Quote

Best I've used is VHT "copper gasket". It comes in a pressure pack so you don't even get your hands dirty. Fixed webers4x48's poorly machined 308 head the night before easternats a treat. From memory that thing was 11.2:1 before we bumped it a bit more and now new engine runs none at all. I only use it on MLS gaskets now. Stu. Quote
