rolleysou Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Just atarted with a sanding wheel on the angle grinder and the few rust spots were a little more extensive that i thought uncovered a dodgy job benieth a lot of bog Quote
rolleysou Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Will look into rust repair panels both guards are similar Cleaned out about 10kg of dirt hiding under the front guards and repainted the mudguards with a bitumus waterproof paint. Bought a old wreck which has been really handy for heaps of bits, grabbed the boot lid, bumpers and heaps of interior stuff. Picked up a Ke30 bonnet, doesn't quite sit flush so will have to adjust the hinges or just shim it. need to source a KE30 bonnet latch as the hook fowls on the bonnet loop. Quote
rolleysou Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Stripped out the whole interior sourcing a set of seats in pretty good nick so they will be cheeper to reupholster. Had to fix up a bit of dodgy wiring, both the headlights and dash lights were bypassed on two separate switches under the dashboard. used the control stem from the wreck to swap in so now everything works. Also made up a wiring loom for the sterio while the dash is out, ran all the wires under the carpet. Quote
rolleysou Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Picked up a set of 13" jellybeans for $50 should shine up ok. Quote
rolleysou Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Jacked up the back of the car, bolted the rim on and ran a file around the edge to get rid of the gutter rash, then used 80 then 240 grit emery cloth. Finished them with 600, 1000 grit wet and dry and then some heavy duty cutting compound and a felt pad. Quote

rolleysou Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 Bought some rear quarter cuts to repiar the rust arround the wheel arches. The rust had gone through both layers of metal so had to chop out a bit. took a whole day of stuffing around but managed to trim up the new panel to fit, ready to weld in. Quote
rolleysou Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 So while the dash is out i thought i had better attack the sloppy stearing, I'm pretty sure it is in the stearing box, has anyone had any luck reconditioning? or should i just look for a second hand one in better nick? Quote
rolleysou Posted February 23, 2011 Author Report Posted February 23, 2011 Bit of an update, still haven't got a welder do do the rear quarters so ive moved onto the interior, replaced all of the foam arround the air vents as the old ones were perrished. Made one good console out of two. jumped on the sewing machine as well and made up a new gear stick booty thing. ps has anyone reconditioned a stearing box before? Quote
