COME AND TRY DAY, 13th

Ballarat Light Car Club is hosting a Community ‘Come and Try’ Training Day on its Autocross track Sunday Feb 13 starting at 9.30

This is a special opportunity for members of the public to have a drive or be a passenger on a hot lap of the club’s 1.6km granitic sand competition circuit. The club will also be running driver training classes for juniors and learners of all ages on the day.

“We’re looking to have a big day on the track with something for everybody,” club President Noel Peers said today. “We have qualified driving instructors as well as some of the most experienced Autocross and rally drivers in the state in attendance, all here to share their skills.” There will be displays, practical demonstrations, and hands on opportunities for those that wish to have a try or learn some driving skills.

The club is especially inviting learner drivers to come for some driving experience. “We have designed a special program for people young and old who want some training in driving a manual vehicle, and we have a program for supervising drivers and their learners who are looking for a few tips on getting their licence and becoming a good driver and safer road user,” Mr Peers said, “We will also will be offering training in skid control and use of the ABS braking system so common in newer cars.” Training will be offered at a nominal charge to cover CAMS driver insurance cost.

Following the training sessions, the club will be conducting its first competitive Autocross for the year. This will start at 1.00 PM. Supplementary Regulations for the day are available below

The clubrooms and Autocross track is located at Ballarat Airport, with action starting at 9.30 am Sunday 13th For information contact Ian Brain on 0418 518988

Do they ever run tarmac stuff (khana), or just use the dirt track??

They are involved with Hill Climbs etc. They used to run a tarmac motorkhana but the old air strip if stuffed and finding enough tarmac betwen the pot holes was getting hard..... BLCC also run the Winter Classic Rally, which is mostly a navigation exercis but has closed road sections as well :)
