altezzaclub Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 We've just been offered a wagon version for 'free'.... It runs out of rego soon and the couple have too many cars and not enough money, so I asked the local wrecker who sid he'd give me $150 for it, and I'll get my wife to offer her workmate $200 for it. They've had it for over 20years. Have you come across the exhaust manifold leaks?? This one chuffs like a leaky gasket but apparently the cast iron manifold cracks on all of them so most end up with extractors. Is the accelerator heavy, the brakes heavy and the diff whiny?? The wagon has all of those, and the plastic covers around the inside door locks are missing... All Pini faults... :( On the plus side.... I can't find anything on the plus side! :laff: Quote
SkidzMgee Posted February 4, 2011 Author Report Posted February 4, 2011 Yeah all the pedals are like pushing a human skull to transfer power or response to anything. The clutch squeaks now from abuse, and the diff is welded, so umm yerrr kinda?! :P Ive already had my manifolds re tapped and its doing it again, so I'm just putting up with it until the 30 goes into it. Couldnt really give a toss if it's slow currently, P plater laws mean the slower I go the better. Hence why I want laow, and better rims+coilovers. More pics of headlight painting, got kinda delayed because they got spat on yesterday while I wasnt paying attention to the weather, and now I ahve to sand and reapply some paint :( Quote
SkidzMgee Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 Got an S3 bumper from kitto on R31 forums, slightly damaged, but heaps better than my current over abused S1/2 front kit, and got back onto painting the headlights, which should come up heaps better than how they were before. Pics Bad Headlight Ess Frree Bumpah & The Missus Damage to be fixed Oh I paint too  Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Well, the white whale needs 4tyres, 2 rear shocks and a mighty engine clean until oil leaks are un-noticeable, then another rego inspection. I don't know if your rear shocks go up through the body with a vertical pin like any decently designed shock would, but the wagon's are held in a little cupboard by a horizontal bolt right beside the spring. What a dog to get out!! No room for a socket, 1/8 turn at a time, only one hand's room... If you're planning a shock change, allow for lots of time and swearing! Skidz, when you're under the bonnet could you take the oil cap off and let me know if that changes the idle speed?? Pulling the rubber tube off the tappet cover does, it nearly dies unless you block it with your hand, so I thought 'well there must be a valve in the cover that stops that'. But when I put the tube back on and took the oil cap off it changed it too, which is quite odd. Actually, now I think about it there is no PCV that I could see, so maybe it keeps the whole engine under vacuum... Which means my oil leaks are fighting against vacuum to get out! It does blow enough oil vapour to fill the plasic airway that contains the airflow sensor with oil!! :laff: Quote

Not sure why that being blocked would affect your idle, and I'm fairly sure while changing oil I've left the cap off after putting fresh oil in and it's run... Not nicely, but it ran and sprayed oil up the underside of my bonnet. I would sya your engine has a lot of oil leaking issues, and shit build up from the years or lack of maintenance. So many people just assume that the engines won't die regardless, and then wonder why the RAA has to get called out to them when their dizzy shits its striker plate through the side of the housing >.> Like mine did :P Quote
