ke70dave Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) No one will ever know. No-one could ever prove it. In a car that old, no one would care. yeah i donit think its such a big deal on old cars. what sort of difference are we talking here trev? i don't even know what km's are on my car, bought it with the speedo not working, swapped it for a tacho dash with 287k on it. luckily everything that spins or makes the car work has been replaced.... Almost 100000k's difference between the sedan and seca, sedan has 238 on it and the seca is 330ish. Quote
bLinded_ Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 My KE70 had 330xxxkms on the original odometer. I then wanted to change to a tacho dash with 250xxxkms on it, so I just swapped the 2 odometers around so I still had the correct amount for the car. Honestly, no-one is going to know any different as both odometer are identical, bar the readings of coarse. You are doing the right thing by keeping the numbers correct, so to be honest I don't think you would have any problems at all. Only reason it would look bad would be if the car suddenly had 100xxxkms less all of a sudden... Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 It was just so common with the Jap imports pouring into NZ it didn't matter at all what the odo said, everyone just ignored them. The Govt tried to outlaw it and companies were set up that checked odos and 'guaranteed' them but in the end you just look at the rest of the car. I always reckoned on measuring disc rotor wear...
