I was surfing the net earlier and came across some of these gruesome pictures - can anyone say that they agree with this sort of thing - i can't even imagine the stress that it must cause on their joints and muscles - imagine what they will be like in later life... :D

Alot of people dream to look like that, but I'm not a big fan of the girls that are REALLY muscly and the dudes, well, personally i wouldnt want to look like that......! :D

But to get strong muscles like that you must put a lot of stress on joints and ligaments in turn so that you can strengthen them - and then once old age kicks in and the muscles arent there to protect the joints - well i think you see my point...

I recall in grade 12, one of our relief teachers for physical education was a body builder. She was the mother of one of the girls in our grade it just so happened. Was very funny when she did more chin-up than the most fit guy in our class could do.. :D

Putting stress on joints and ligaments helps to strenghten them. If you overdo it then you'll injure yourself, but if you do it reasonably then you'll end up with stronger joints, ligaments AND muscles, and be a lot less prone to injury.

 

By babying yourself all the time all you'll end up is with weak joints, ligaments and muscles.

 

I know when I used to climb heaps I was a hell of a lot less prone to injury than I am now, and when I did get injured I healed a lot quicker too.

 

Artificially stimulating muscles through steroids etc is all bad though, as then you have to deal with the side effects, and your muscle strength will grow a lot quicker than the strength of your bones, ligaments etc and that'll lead to bad things.

 

Overdoing training is also bad, there's a limit to what your body can handle and if you overdo it you'll end up with torn muscles and ligaments and all sorts of other crappy things.
