Istartfires Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Hey guys soon i wish too build a sr20det ke70 and i have just read that autos have a Bigger tunnel, I'm pretty $#!t with cars but will this in any way make the conversion any easier? Sorry if this has been asked beforebut I can't search on iPhone Thanks, Steve. Quote
LukeAE71 Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I was told the same thing once. It's a prick finding certain things for manual conversion thats all and installing pedal boxes is grrrrrrrrrrrrrr :glare: Quote
MattyZ Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 yeah its collecting all the little bits like a pedal box and good gearbox. and pedalbox installations where do i start haha biggest pain in the ass, mine left me with 16stiches to date and a cut tendon hahaha. but so worth it if ya go ahead, autos ring their tits off way too much. beerhead Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Another thing I was told many moons ago that may help fitment is running an RB20DET gearbox, which is apparently shorter, thinner and puts the shifter right in the factory shifter hole. Top effort MattyZ, my 14 stiches is weak :P How did you cut a tendon in your ass though :lolcry: Quote
MattyZ Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) haha well ya see ya need a wrench 1m of dental floss ..... haha um cut the tendon in my thumb on the metal that the dash pad bolts to couldnt open palm the wrench so had to grip it properly and bolt went bust balls tight to finger loose. so i suggest anyone whos undoing stuff liek that wear gloves trust me might only happen 1 in 20 but better to be safe than sorry. and correct me if I'm wrong but you would need a AE71 pedal box since its you will need hydraulic not a cable. Istartfires Posted January 13, 2011 Author Report Posted January 13, 2011 Yeah I heard about rb20 boxes fitting good too, I'm gonna more research into the whole thing if I don't do sr20det it will either be 4agte or 3sgte depends on my pay rise situation ;) Quote
bAKER Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 You have to change the pedal box in a ke70 to a hydraulic box anyway, unless you get an ae71 manual. If you're willing to do a full engine conversion. Changing a pedal box isn't going to be a hassle. Quote
