Spencer[RL] Posted April 2, 2011 Author Report Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) So went to Repco and asked for a Brake Master Cylinder Kit This is what they gave me. :hmm: So anyway bought it got home opened the top of the Brake Master Cylinder to find no oil in the top tank thing,so put some new Dot4 in it and got got my Girl to pump the brakes while poring it in , gave it a couple of minutes then I got in the car and tried the brakes and goes about 70% in and just like hitting a wall! before I did this the brake didn't bite till the medal was in 50%.. This is where the silicone is Any help? Edited April 2, 2011 by Spencer Quote
twisted2 Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 id say from look of it the rear seals gone and just pump brake fluid straight out Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Replace the whole thing man. You can put the kit through it but the walls of the cylinder will be pitted and shit and will wear down the new seals, and create the same problem. MIne was $115 but I was a dick and got it from a wanker car parts shop. Brakes are really important, do them properly. A quick fix could kill you. 1 Quote

Spencer[RL] Posted April 2, 2011 Author Report Posted April 2, 2011 Whats the go with getting this out? how do I drain the system so I'm not working with fluid everywhere? Quote
kickn5k Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Yeah man spend the money get a new one!!! Or you can get the old one resleaved. Brake shop will be able to help out with a change over master cyl or resleaving. You'll be pissed if you wreck this sweet sev because it don't stop when you need it too. Stu. Quote

Spencer[RL] Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) So bought my master cyclinder today. 1)Took the old one out 2)Put new one in ( don't have to bench bleed because it sit horizontal with the ground ) 3)Put some new fluid in it 4)Left the top piping that goes into the MC little loose 5)Got my Mate to pump brakes ( bubbles came out the top then finally fluid came out a quickly tightened it up) 6) Pedal feels so much better! Theres feeling as you touch it and not like before when it went in 30%-40% in till i felt resistance Mate suggests doing a wheel cyclinder bleed? Edited April 5, 2011 by Spencer Quote
Evan G Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 yea man have to bleed the brakes. so when the brakes kick in its 30-40mm down? Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 Nope as you touch the brakes they start to "bite" Quote
