I'm guessing rare in Oz? what are the specs and such? are they they worth finding and buying? A 7AGE is a hybrid (as in bits of differente engines, not petrol-electric :P) engine with the block of a 7AFE ad the head from a 4AGE. They aren't a factory engine, and as such you won't "find" them in anything in particular, and they are as rare as any other hybrid engine (maybe a bit more common though). Don't bother trying to find one, just make one yourself, there are plenty of threads around detailing what they are and how to build them. Quote
cinky Posted December 17, 2010 Author Report Posted December 17, 2010 what sort of advantages are there? is it only 7 afe block and bottom end used then the rest is 4 age? Quote
ke70dave Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 you get a 1.8L 4age. head over to ae86dc, there is a large tech article/discussion on making one. or even just have a google. i wouldnt do it myself, but some people have had success and swear by the idea. Quote
cinky Posted December 17, 2010 Author Report Posted December 17, 2010 has any one here got one? or had personnal experience with one to say whether its worth it or not Quote
beerhead Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Matt's 20V ate one for lunch, they don't make much extra power than a 4AGE, just more bottom end torque. They need aftermarket rods if you plan to rev them hard, so it isn't a cheap or common option. Quote
cinky Posted December 17, 2010 Author Report Posted December 17, 2010 lets say i have a crazy idea of building a 7 agte. with beefed internals and major head work just because i hate having tyres. iv got 12g to spend with the refurb of the car 5 g to body and paint so still a bit spare change left over for a bit of engine work. Trev Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 If you have 12g then just do a 4agte or an SR20det, the let down with most 7age's is that people use small port heads, I have seen 7age's make from 90hp up to 180hp, to build one quickly you just stick 4age pistons in the 7a block (valve cuts), bolt the 4age head on and use a porsche 994 (I think) timing belt. jono1986 Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Or if you have that much........3SGE or 3SGTE Quote
Trev Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Or if you have that much........3SGE or 3SGTE The weight is a let down. Quote
