blacker Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Yes, i an aware this site is TOYOTAS, but i have to ask this. Ive been living in Melbourne for a while, and every bloody wog has a commodore, all LOWER IN THE ARSE END!!! I asked one guy why they do it and he said for PERFORMANCE VALUES. Is it true?? -Amy Rowe-Blacker Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Only commodore I know of that "performs" is a V8 Supercar, their suspension is specifically designed to handle well under race conditions, your usual bogan just chops their springs with a hacksaw to give it a "cool" look, whilst this does reduce the amount of body roll, it also can throw out your wheel alignment and can be damaging in the long term. irokin Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Mcpherson strut aint very good to race with I still can't believe up until the begining of last year theyd been running mcpherson strut! Mind you it was one of the best systems ive ever seen. Quote
JapTastic Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Ha, I personally doubt its for performance reasons. They probably just like the "slammed" look, but front wheels still need clearance to turn, so the front sits higher. There are certain cars that do handle better with a slight rake down to the rear. The s1-3 RX7's for example are suggested to run a slightly lower ride height at the rear, mainly to keep roll centres at an acceptable level. Quote
irokin Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Ive heard of bogandoors going around with NO springs...thats just a death trap Quote
mumblezzz Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 My car used to hit the bump stops even with just king lows. Made cornering interesting when half way round you would start hopping off the bump stops. Quote
