Specs of the car now:

 

-1981 KE70, Yellow.

-AE71 crossmember, steering rack & column, dash cluster, dash loom, shifter surround, heater box, front body loom modified for KE70 headlights and indicators

-TA63 Carina steering arms, suspension arms and struts converted to coilovers with Koni red inserts

-Cusco cambertops

-MA61 front brakes with slotted DBA rotor and EBC greenstuff pads

-AE86 T series LSD disc-brake rear end with AE86 Levin tailshaft

-S15 Brake Master Cylinder on AE71 booster

-Whiteline front and rear swaybars, adjustable panhard rod, strut brace.

-AE86 low king springs with KYB Gas commodore shocks in rear.

-Watanabe 15x7 rims sandblasted, painted and lip polished. 195/50/15 Wanli directional tyres

-Greddy electronic peak recall warning boost guage and electronic water temp guage moulded into dash cluster surround

-Smallport 4age with manifold cut and shut for RWD, bigport flat-style rear sensor housing for firewall clearance

-Standard Smallport clutch and flywheel with spigot bearing installed in crank

-Smallport 4age starter motor.

-Blitz K24 AE86 turbo kit with cast manifold and external gate

-Trust FMIC with modified end tanks for cooler pipes and headlight clearnace

-Mild steel mandrel bent, TIG welded cooler pipes

-Blitz BOV

-Cusco oil catch can

-K&N Extreme airfilter

-2.25" TIG welded Mandrel-bent exhaust with spiral resonator and offset-in/center-out rear muffler

-Bosch external fuel pump running off AE92 GTZ fuel pump electronics (fuel pump relay, circuit opening relay, resistor etc)

-Brass compression fittings on all steel fuel lines, flexible lines replaced with EFI hose

-AE92 GTZ 4agze injectors, coils, CAS, ECU, ignitor etc running the show

-Modified tacho drive board to work with 4agze ignitor (guide available)

-Alarm, central locking and EFI wiring integrated into existing car looms

-Davies Craig thermofan operating off AE92 fan relay installed in AE71 fuse box, actuated by AE92 fan switch in remote thermostat housing.

-Reconditioned AE86 Radiator

-modified AE92 accelerator cable

-AE71 pedalbox installed

-Autotechnica Steering wheel

-Jaycar 6.5" response speakers in rear shelf, Pioneer 4" in front stock locations

-Boot mounted battery

 

Mods still to complete:

-Installation of two Recaro seats

-Installation of headunit in lower center console

-Fit AE71 doors with integrated side mirrors

-Respray exterior in factory yellow with black doorframes

-tint windows

-Fit boost controller

 

Then later on... 7agte with bigger turbo, W58 and a stronger diff.

what is a set of watanbes worth? I'm gathering they've suffered from takumi tax aswell?

mine were about $300, they were looking pretty average when I got them. All black and corroded. They were a replacement set after my original ordered set of RS8's went missing between Japan and Brisbane.

 

Pic from when I started refinishing them... one sandblasted and rim polished, another sandblasted and etch primed, top two in original condition:

I've been toying with the idea of investing in a forced 4AGE rather than a 5K. How's it run with the smallport head? or have you done a swap? Would be interesting to see whether there is much power difference between it and a 4AGZE turbo rig. Any trouble running without oil squirters so far? There's so many other cars around that are blown without them that I've never fully understood why 4AGE people immediately shun at the idea of it, is it the ceramic top pistons?
