Hi all,

Well the 5K is in the KE17 and after some initial difficulties with a gearbox that had the shifter 'waaaay' back

I got myself another k50 with a more suitable shifter position.

My problem now is that the 'normal' k50 doesn't seem to be engaging the clutch? The pedal

just falls through! :( I have been reading around and always read that the two should match up no worries...

Just some thoughts.. Just want to get it on the road already :D

No i didnt adjust the cable.. Seemed like it was too loose but will try that tomoro.. lol didnt even think about that one :S.

No,the flywheel n clutch are from the 5k.

Also, I was looking at the diameters of the 'shaft' that comes out of the gearbox and there was a difference of a couple of mm between the two.. Just wondering what this means..

Thanks for the advice

Depending on what the 5k came out of (ie. Liteace?).

The "5k" flywheel takes a larger spline than the k50 gearbox and a larger clutch. Although it is stamped 4k it doesn't fit the spline. Also when you change to a 4k flywheel with the 180mm clutch face you need to get a 180m 4k clutch.

Also, the outer diameter of the pressure plate is more than likely too large too fit the bellhousing.

The spline in the 5k clutch will bee too large for your K50.

You will HAVE to fit a 4k clutch and flywheel before going any further.

The likelihood of the gearbox being hard up against the clutch, rather than the block could be spacing it away from the clutch enough to give your clutch engaging problem.

Theoretically, even if he had a 200mm clutch kits still in it then the TOB should still be able to disengugae the clutch! The clutch plate just won't turn the input shaft.

We'll see what happen when he adjusts the cable I suppose.

Do you know if the 5k in question has been in a corolla before or has it come straight from a liteace?

Not sure what the 5k was originally in, but the previous owner had it in a ke30.

The thing is that the 5speed that i got with it worked and I don't see why it shouldnt now.

Ill look into all the above sugestions, lucky i do have the old clutch and all that. A bit of mix and match i guess.

I will write my findings at the end of the day :P

Should hopefully just be cable adjustment then if its been in a rolla before.

But if the clutch is keeping the bellhousing face off the block face then the TOB may not have enough reach?

Hi,

I own a KE15 and drive it around so hope fully I can help.

....ok not to be a bearer of bad news BUT. I went and read your rides thread and a few other threads but could not find the info I needed.

When you installed your 5K did you just remove the 5K flywheel and bolt on your KE10 flywheel and clutch???

As if you did your throw out bearing is to short :(

KE1X if you look at the original box has a LONG throw out bearing retainer and if running a 5 speed with a KE1X flywheel and clutch the short 5 speed bearing retainer wont get the bearing moving far enough. Thus wont disengage. As the KE1X run a different throw out bearing arrangment. It has a bolt in arm different pivot point etc quite a few diferences.

So can you enlighten us on exact parts you used? ie clutch, clutch cover, flywheel etc?

Also most van 5K share same large flywheel as the 7K so I do take you removed it. If you used a normal 4K flywheel and still wont engage there has to be another problem...

Not 100% sure about 7kc but 7ke's actually use a 215mm clutch plate Cam.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I am using the 5K flywheel and clutch. This set up worked with the old 5speed that was bolted onto the engine.

Therefore what i have is a 5K with a 5 speed and in between are 5K goodies. This makes me think that the problem (hopefully)

will be a simple clutch cable adjustment...Considering its going into a smaller car etc etc this sounds like the biggest possibility.

I am going to work on the problem this arvo, so will update it tonight..
