Jason Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 are yoru ready to hand over a wad of cash upwards from $5000 ? Quote
Gavclassic Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 Good unmolested AE 86's are hens teeth to find now, try looking for a good AE 71 or even a KE 70 Corolla. Still can take the 4AGE/ZE conversion. Much easier to find a good " grandpa " car for less than $2500. An AE 86 for $2500 would need $5000 spent on paint and rust repairs before you even start the mechanical modifications. It took me 7 months to find a good AE 86 and that was 8 years ago. Then spent $4000 importing a twin cam AE 86 from Japan and doing a full conversion on my Ausy car. Sold it to a guy in Melbourne some 3 years ago, havn't heard from him since. :D Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 ae86s have become very inflated over the last few years, but earlier corollas (even ke70s) are still in the realms of realism. this is changing tho, as the stocks of geminis seem to have run out in sydney, mazdas are expensive and woggish, datsuns are expensive and rally-ish. probably the only saving grace corollas have had is that you can't legally put a 13b in one, otherwise they'd be double the price we're all paying for them Quote
mack187 Posted September 26, 2005 Author Report Posted September 26, 2005 thanks for your help guys but yet a nother question what type of price would i be looking at for a sprint the same shape as the 86 coupe Quote
demuire Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Umm, sprints didn't come in a coupe I don't think? Well, not in OZ anyway, I think the sprints were like, a normal KE70 but with a spoiler and one or two other "go fast bits"? Teddy would know. Quote
Clown Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 i think he means a ke70 coupe, in which case good luck finding one. AE86 coupes are about as easy to find as the ke/ae70 coupes are. Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 in australia, we got ae86 3 door liftback, ke70/ae71 4 door sedan, ke70/ae71 4 door wagon, ke70/ae71 2 door panelvan. we didn't get ke70/ae71 2 door sedan, ke70/ae71 3 door liftback, or ae86 2 door sedan. none of these cars are coupes Quote
