hey thanks all, how common are these "2.6, 3.0, 3.4 and 4.0L V8s"? and what did they come out in?

thanks :)

None of them are overly common, apart from the 2.6L V which came out in the uber-rare Crown Eight, the rest came out in the first-gen Century, which ain't exactly common here either. On top of that, even the biggest one only puts out ~120kw, so they aren't exactly powerhouses. Hot-rodders are starting to use them though because they're compact and an old-skool type design that isn't a Ford or Chev...

Daimler had the 2.5L V8 in their SP250 Dart. Rocking horse manure now I expect.

Bore 76mm stroke 70, but single cam & pushrods. The motors also ended up in Jaguars after they bought up Daimler. Might be some old Jags in wreckers still.

I'd be looking for the rover 3.5L. Pretty common and all alloy.

I saw a Celica with one and mechanical injection some time ago...

Can you get one of them rover V8's with just a gearbox, or do they all come with the transfer case setup on them?

Transfer case? As in a 4WD? If you just want a normal RWD one then you get the stuff out of a Rover SD1/3500.
