Mad55 Posted November 22, 2010 Author Report Posted November 22, 2010 locked the dizzy but didnt check the timing :hmm: where should i set it to? was set right before dizzy was locked but would locking it change the timing on idle? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Before you locked it it would have been set around 8*, and then it would mechanically advance (what you just de-activated) from there. With the locked dizzy you should be running around 20-25*, because it no longer advances. So, you shouldn't have done any damage, it would have just been running way worse than it should be. Oh and just a word of warning - Motors with locked dizzy sometimes don't like starting on a cold morning (because you only need like 0-5* to start, not 25*), they'll wind over really slow to start with and finally kick into life. Its no biggy and will still start, just now you won't be suprised when it does. Quote
265T Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Hi Chris, i was checking out your wheels for sale & thought your car looked familiar - it's my old 55 :) i owned it for 2yrs, it's good to see it's still kicking around & looking great. Was it a 4spd when you bought it??? The car had factory 5spd & air con I'm looking forward to following your turbo build cheers Paul Quote
Mad55 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 yeah it was 4 spd but now its 5spd :) getting a respray in the next few months too. now for an update... took the head into the engine works place and got it cleaned up, valves reseated, all the seals done (used the original head because i knew it wasnt cracked or anything rather than wasting time on the shit looking purple one lol) i noticed the two heads were different which u will see in the pics that there is a shoulder around the valves on and the old one is flush the engine guy said it looked like a 3k head so let me know what u think ;) over all I'm pretty happy with the way it looks just need a new set of head bolts and ill put it back together and turn the key and hope for the best anyway here are the pics Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Yep, looks like a 4K head you got cleaned up. So the 3K head was what was on there? :hmm: Quote

Mad55 Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 so its taken about 4 weeks longer than expected because the tuner is having trouble with it :( but he reckons it will be done this week so far theres been the coil, alternator and now its the fuel feed from the tank as it is too restrictive for my fuel pump and leaning out at 4psi but once thats changed it should be all go... will have an update on how it goes when i get it back... Mad55 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 just a couple of interior shots Quote
Mad55 Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 was going alrigth but its not quite done yet, the mechanic is a lazy bastard. but when it was on there it was leaning out on 9psi so it still needs a bit of work Quote
