TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Someone needs to merge a couple of threads! :) Nice work on the car so far, should scoot along well. I hope you have done something for ignition control? That could be a major reason why your having trouble on boost. To much timing will kill it! JP Quote
doginleathers Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 hey mate awesome job let us know how you go looks sweet Quote

JP ignition control? ive got a dual spark coil out a pintara and an electronic dizzy if thats what you mean and the timing is spot on, its booked in for next thursday to get tuned so they will sort it out either way :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Nice, thats wpn36/SWL's turbo setup isn't it? ignition control? ive got a dual spark coil out a pintara and an electronic dizzy if thats what you mean and the timing is spot on, its booked in for next thursday to get tuned so they will sort it out either way :) You need to lock the dizzy, retro fit a boost retard solenoid to the dizzy or run something like an MSD BTM to retard your timing on boost. Otherwise start stocking up on headgaskets now. Also in regards to fuel, have you read this yet.... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/17418-how-to-set-up-your-fuel-system/ Quote

Mad55 Posted November 12, 2010 Author Report Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) @ Taz_Rx: what have you done to yours? Edited November 12, 2010 by Mad55 Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Just posted in your other thread and realised what car it was! Looking at your fuel pressure reg I can't see a boost reference line running to it? Is this right? That could explain why you may be running out of fuel on boost. Tge boost pressure could be stopping the fuel from entering the carb basically. And as Taz said, you need some sort of boost retard function. Locking the dizzy sights can work to some degree, it's as simple as wiring/welding your bob wieghts in the dizzy together to stop the mechanical advance, you should be able to keep your vac advance for off boost cruising though. Your best bet would be to spend a few hundred on an msd 6BTM, with the dollar so good look stateside for the cheapest prices. With the btm you can lock your dizzy at say 30deg initial and as boost comes on it will knock the timing back for you up to 3deg per psi of boost. Actually, if your going to spend any money on an msd god a 6al-2 programmable and buy a 2-3bar map sensor to suit. It's a fully laptop programmable version that allows you to have a separate boost retard map etc. And it's cheaper than the btm and 300 times better! JP Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Nice, thats wpn36/SWL's turbo setup isn't it? This is the setup from the 36 that Wpn36 bought from Bezender here in adelaide. Another setup by Mr Verban.. Quote
LXY-642 Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 yeah engine out of my ke36, good to see that it's running now :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 That's an electronic dizzy isn't it? If so just pull the guts out of the top of it, remove the springs and replace them with some tie wire..... not cable ties. :rolls: JP - With the BTM you just run normal NA timing (unlocked) then the BTM just pulls out timing for said boost. And yeah I can't see a boost reference line either. There's a plumbing diagram in that link I gave you ofr those malpassi's.... hell I think I even put a cut-away pic of one in there! Quote
Mad55 Posted November 13, 2010 Author Report Posted November 13, 2010 i have a boost reference line, its plumbed into the back of the carby hat. ill have a look at the dizzy and see about locking it but if i can get a btm for a reasonable price ill get that instead thanks for the help :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 The BTM's aren't cheap at around 4700 retail, get some mates rates somewhere and you could probably get one for $400'ish. Best option by far though. Quote
