MAD ROLA Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 howz it going, got a KE70 and wanna get a bit more power out of it to atleast make it slide in the dry, but don't wanna spend big amounts and don't need HUGE amounts of power out of it. just wanna know what people think as far as engines or mods? its a 4k 5 speed, should i mod it? some people say 3k head, webbers and extractors and be good some say just go a 5k? how much better are they? efi conversion? any other cheap ideas? mods or conversions? probably not 4age unless really cheap... or even CA18 or whatever Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Just forget it- You'll get blisters on your right hand! You're dreaming if you think that 1300cc from fifty years ago will ever make enough power to slide in the dry! Its a pathetic motor design that was 10years behind Datsun's SOHC 1600 in 1969, and 20years behind the twinkies 16valves... and that was thirty years ago!! Spend a couple of days looking through the site to see who slides their car and what they did. If you have $10grand to spend then chase something at least 2litres and spend 1/3 of that money on the suspension. If you don't have $10k to throw at it get some fluffy dice and a dildo gearshift. There are some good posts about diesel squirters or detergent pumps on the rear tyres.... :laff: 1 Quote
ae95- wagon kid Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 supercharged and worked 5k might do it will defiantly have the torque weber 32/36 or go all out and use a 48 weber or dellorto cam pistons valves springs timing belt sc12 or sc14 supercharger like the picture if you can get the parts cheap and have mechanical knowledge would be great to do but don't expect fantastic or huge h.p but it should slide well if you know what you are doing Quote
Evan G Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Just forget it- You'll get blisters on your right hand! BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH ! thats f@$king gold! Quote
ae95- wagon kid Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Timing belt? sucks to do all that work and only to have the timing belt snap may as well change it Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) sucks to do all that work and only to have the timing belt snap may as well change it K-motors have timing chains, not timing belts..... Edited November 7, 2010 by Hiro Protagonist Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 K-motors have timing chains, not timing belts..... Aww... but the idea was good! and there's nothing like the scream of a supercharger when you nail it. How mechanical are you MadRolla?? Can you build a motor yourself? Mod it?? Fabricate fittings for a supercharger?? Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) How about dropping in a Suzuki Swift engine? That will give you a modern high-revving motor as an alternative to the 4AG-E. Named "Swift Sport", it is powered by a high-revving 1.6 litre, naturally-aspirated DOHC VVT 4-cylinder engine with a 11.1:1 compression ratio, 4-1 exhaust manifold, High lift cams, Forged pistons, and strengthened valve springs. The 1.6 L engine produces 125 PS (92 kW; 123 hp) at 6600 rpm and 148 N·m (109 lb·ft) torque at 4800 rpm. There will be plenty of knowledge and performance parts for it just across the Tasman. The one make Suzuki Swift Sport Cup in New Zealand uses modified four-door versions of the Swift Sport, which sees them compete at every major circuit in NZ as part of the National Tier 1 Championships. The Swift is also homologated under the Super 1600 formula to compete in the Junior World Rally Championship. It struck me as a worthwhile choice while reading how Billzilla mounted his onto a K50 box here- http://www.billzilla.org/rcar.htm#gearbox Edited November 8, 2010 by altezzaclub Quote
ae95- wagon kid Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 ive dishonered the rolla name and must be shamed :( ive only ever worked on one and don't know too much about them Harry Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 ive dishonered the rolla name and must be shamed Lol! These youngsters who've only ever seen overhead cams and front-wheel drive and motors that work properly and don't drop oil and.... I remember the good ol' days! 1 Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Overhead cams? What is this heresy you speak of? HEATHEN!! :P Quote
ae95- wagon kid Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Lol! These youngsters who've only ever seen overhead cams and front-wheel drive and motors that work properly and don't drop oil and.... I remember the good ol' days! I have worked on engines most of my life just not toyota engines you can't really get much more simpler than a k series but i have worked on many single over head cam engines mostly old Gemini's, Datsun's, and a rather oily and ancient Hit and miss engine from god knows when. i am only 18 but i know alot more about old engines than some of the mechanics that are only trained to plug into a diagnostics port. regards Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 When the Earth's magnetic fields reverse in 2012 all those non-injected motors will be the only ones running... Except we won't have an internet to come on rollaclub and skite about it! :laff: Quote
