7FOUR7 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Does anybody make a sandwich plate or oil cooler kit for the K engine? Cheers Brad Quote
wagn Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I was told a sandwich plate from any toyota will fit but i can not confirm it Quote
Evan G Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 go down to autobarn, they sell a sandwitch plate for Z9 oil filters (same as Z68/Z368 3/4 thread) for like $60 if i remember correctly Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 HKS make a oil cooler kit for K motors well did awhile ago. Thermostat controlled etc the lot. Pic attached....Good luck finding one..LOL Cameron Quote
7FOUR7 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 cheers for the pic, looks trick :) Picked up this on ebay, should keep the big cammed, high comp 5K under control I hope ;) Quote
parrot Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Looks a bit big to me. I would take it back and exchange for a much smaller one (half that) if you can. Whatever, make sure you use a thermostat in the cooler circuit. Either within the sandwich plate itself, or remotely. Quote
7FOUR7 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 it's 550x165x50. Would it cool the oil too much you think? Quote
beerhead Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Yes way too big, but if it's got a thermostat it'll work fine. That's a bigger cooler than on a mates 700hp 2J. Quote
7FOUR7 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 ok so I'd need something like thi yeh? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GReddy-Oil-Cooler-Adapter-Thermostat-3-4X16UNF-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c53e710c1QQitemZ190386213057QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote
7FOUR7 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 or this for an inline? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perma-Cool-Remote-Mount-Oil-Thermostat-1070-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5add43aca9QQitemZ390259256489QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote
beerhead Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) That's the beast you'll need. If you use a normal plate with a cooler like yours the motor will never warm up enough for the internal tolerances to be right. Edited November 6, 2010 by beerhead 1 Quote
Redwarf Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 In all honesty, for a K motor I wouldn't worry about it. I ran a VERY angry 3K in all forms of motorsport (including a lot of rallying) for years in Queensland without the need for one. Quote
7FOUR7 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 sweet as, cheers beerhead :) Quote
7FOUR7 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 Ahh well, I have it now and it will look cool behind the front bar ;) Quote
Redwarf Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Just remember, the more complex you make it, the more there is to go wrong. :) 1 Quote
