demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Are there any? That aren't CAMS sanctioned? Ie, a rally where cars don't have to fit into CAMS rally regs? Quote
wyldephyre Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 KCF is a rally sprint, isn't it? Not sure about regs, though. Quote
Felix Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 maybe you should build your next car to the CAMS rally regs. you do need a spare now. Quote
demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 maybe you should build your next car to the CAMS rally regs. you do need a spare now. If I did it all again now, I probably would build a car to CAMS rally regs instead of 3J regs. But oh well, people change, and a long long time ago I liked circuit racing and stuff. A spare? /dream mode on  I can barely even afford to keep this one on the road, much less build a spare... Quote
demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 (edited) I can't dirt rally (or do historic events like Kilcoy Canter, if it ever happened) with a 3J car, and I don't like circuit racing, and 3J is a circuit racing class... Edited September 20, 2005 by demuire Quote
99 Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Nope, they're all run by CAMS Fook Or - I should say - I've never heard of one that has been run outside of CAMS. I thought that the Kilcoy Canter was going to be non-CAMS but I think that may have turned into the Kilcoy Road Rally (CAMS affiliated). 90% of rallysprints in Qld are run by BSCC, therefore are CAMS Quote
demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 Bummer, I'm told there are non-CAMS club level rallysprints down south, apparently. And things like Friday-Night-Special's or something like that, that sound like heaps of fun. Kilcoy Canter was always a different event to the Kilcoy Road Rally. Kilcoy Canter is not going ahead, but I believe the road rally is still on. Quote
demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 Besides, I think it's more like something I'd like to "try before I buy" thing, if you know what I mean. I mean, sure, I love driving on tarmac, and I love driving on dirt. Tarmac rallies rock, but hahaha I could never dream about affording to competitively run in one in this lifetime, the cost of building/buying and maintaining a competitive car and the entry fees for any event would put me in debt forever... I used to think circuit racing was fun, but it doesn't really appeal to me anymore now that I've had a taste of rallying... Who knows, as much as I love driving on dirt, maybe I won't like dirt rallying? *gasp* Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 can you just change the car from 3J to CAMS? i spose that would mean changing back to a 3k wouldn't it? that's not cool Quote
demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 3J is a CAMS class too. I'm not really familiar with the rally regs (umm, PRC? I'm not sure), I know the engine would have to change, I'd probably get away with a 2T like Rob. Apart from that, no idea. Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 ahh, you would too, not so bad  you need stock front struts in PRC too, i believe Quote
demuire Posted September 20, 2005 Author Report Posted September 20, 2005 That's probably about right. And I'd probably have to lose the rear disc brakes too, since they don't "bolt on"? No idea. Quote

And things like Friday-Night-Special's or something like that, that sound like heaps of fun. Oops, was mistaken. No, they are CAMS run events, but aren't part of any series or anything, and apparently they allow any sort of car to run as long as they meet some requirements (I'm guessing cage etc), a bit like an autocross, but not.
