rollered Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 hey what does everyone think of my airfiler job? i have seen it done before but stil its cool! one tiny problem.... i think the car now runs at a higher temp, cus its sucking in warm engine bay air, not like the cold shit from the wheel wells.. anyway to over come this? bonnet scoop? seems to heat up more when sitting staionary.. also makes a sick noise now. not like an induction noise, but like carby noise.. low barrrrmmmmmm noise!! so stoked.. hehe here she is Air Filter what u think? yo! -Miller- Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 (edited) you could always run a 4" plastic hose from the front of the car to the top filter. that way u get some cool air aswell :) did u just take the top off? Edited September 19, 2005 by -Miller- Quote
kangaroosa Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Nice try for a first attemp. You could always finish it off like Jamie did to his Air filter. Air Filter Quote
rollered Posted September 19, 2005 Author Report Posted September 19, 2005 i did get the idea from jamie although i couldnt be stuffed cutting the bottom piece. plus it was at night hehe grinder looked sick! i have modified the top hat, but remember that there is that rubber seel. just cut round that, and it stil has a good seel.. its a nice mod Quote
Jero Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 You coulda just turned the lid upside down. Quote
rjenman Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 You coulda just turned the lid upside down. dude, what ..you could have also put the front seats in sideways! i don't understand this game Quote
Jero Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Just turn the lid upside down and screw it on. BAM! more air flow and it sounds phat too. Or just replace the whole air filter with something different. like a pod for example Quote
Felix Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 watch out for the feds. you can get away with this sort of thing with pre ADR cars (72? and earlier). Quote
Redwarf Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 The car shouldn't run at a higher temp just due to the air filter change, that's what a thermostat is all about. It's all in your head. Quote
Tiger Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 ..you could have also put the front seats in sideways! That comment has got me on the floor!!! Another golden moment brought to us by rjenman! I wouldn't go the bonnet scoop idea. Cop bait.. and with that setup, I wouldn't recommend attracting cops, as they'll "throw the book at you" for a modification as such. If you're going to embark on a quest of easy breathing for the motor, SJ's idea from his car is the perfect way of doing it... providing you do the job 100%... not 50%. I'd cut the bottom one too... Jigsaw with a metal blade if you have to. My 5 cents Quote
oli Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 why not buy one of these custom k&N ones from filter nuts? link here i guess it's the fact you ahve to pay for it Quote

Tiger Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 That is a neat filter Oli! I'm a huge fan of the reusable filters. I've got one in my S Pack and I haven't looked back on it since! I'll get the same for my Rolla too Quote
