Paint Choice

Hey almost finished rubbing back my keysev.

 

I'm going to be spraying backyard acryllic.

 

The two colours I'm chosing between are white with a coat of clear,

and matt black.

 

i really like the look of a matt black salmed keysev but! my car will be seeing a fair amount of sun and i don't like the idea of my fresh matt black backyard spray job fading to shit in a month lol

 

has anyone sprayed clear over matt black and it looks ok?

 

any thoughts would be great there my two choices of colours tho would prefer the matt black look :wink:

If you are that keen on matte black get some matte clear to protect it.

it looks VERY tacky unless it is done PERFECTLY.

 

also wont clear coat on top of matt black make it...shiny?

Put gloss black down and matte clear it.

hmmm, i duno do you think its easier to achieve a better result painting white? well thats whati have heard rather than black

very true, if done properly matt black looks great. If painting matt black, i'd go for the ppg gmh underbody flat black. Its a non pourous paint mix as opposed to other brands of flat/matt black where you wash the car and see the paint run off with the water. You can also buy flat finished clears to go over flat/matt black,

the paint scheme comes down to how you want to see the car like mentioned before matte black is hard to paint cause any errors will show through

i personally havent sprayed it i have played around with white but again if not applied properly will look like crap

my last ke70 i painted matt black well tractor black didnt dilute it down very much painted the pillars and roof white the good thing about it is when you scratch the paint bunnings matt black fills the scratches great you can hardly tell but it does scratch easy

Thanks for your thoughts guys i think ill just go with the white as i picked up a set of 14x7 dragways and will look the part in my view:)
