Medicine_Man Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 I have an idea as to what is causing it and I will slap Teddy hard it my idea is correct... Does relate to fueling.. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Think my suspicions were correct, Got it hot and took it for a drive and no breaking down anymore.. has 20km on the clock now... Quote

kickn5k Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 I think you need to post up a few more photos, of the rest of the progress!!!! Congrats on the fact it is now drivable. Quote
Teddy Posted May 20, 2008 Author Report Posted May 20, 2008 I should be more motivated to update you all on the progress, or more so lack of. So, 2 weeks ago. - Car up on jack stands with suspension loaded up; every bush, bolt, nut and washer checked and tightened. Many loose! - Steel wheels put on car with road worthy tyres - Fan shroud zip tied to radiator temporally, fan wired in Drove car down the road, felt good. Nice even power band, very smooth. But then, it started surging, as if it was running out of fuel. A few kms down the road, at the top of the hill, the car basically felt like it ran out of fuel. We knew it had only 4L in it max; luckily the BP was at the bottom of the hill. Rolled in. Drove the car out of the BP with a full tank of fuel. Now it was acting as if it was out of fuel, but still picking up a little bit. Using any throttle, car would bog down and go no where. Pulled over many times. Tried swaping leads over, as i know they are an old set (one of the very few things thats not new). Justin descided to wash down the engine bay before hand, much to my going ugh... the spark plug tubes were filled with some water. After shaking them off slightly, we came good (reving it); started driving again. Stoped again. Came good. etc all the way home. Thought it would be TPS, as its not corectly adjusted, but this wont stop the motor running. Thought 2 and 3 injector lines around wrong way; its a waist spark system so that wont matter either. Its as if the main fuel pump is supplying suffent fuel, but its still running out. Maybe the surge tank is running dry; maybe the pre-pump isnt working corectly. Not sure. Ive got a fuel gauge set with many connections I'm taking up on the weekend. Its not compression, as its a brand new frekin motor. And when its going, it goes very nicely. Yes, the air box is too small and needs opening up (outlet pipe from starlet box is tad smaller than inlet on TB) Spark is good from what we can obtain. I think gut instinct of the feeling as if its running out of fuel and spluttering is where the problem lies. One of the pumps, new pumps, is dodgie, or maybe theres crap in the lines, a blockage. Possibly the fuel pressure reg is .. ugh. But mmm. So many variables. So little time. Ill leave on a positive note. Its the smoothest, Quietest, rattle free ke70 i have ever driven. The seats are like lounge sweets, and the car drives like its new. don't mind the bad spelling. Ugh. Quote
Kid-Ae Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Ahh.. Had a feeling there would be some teething problems.. This is inspiring me to buy a Ke70 instead of getting the 38 for cheaper. Love your work dude. a quiet rattle free ke70.. 'tell 'I'm he's dreamin!' Quote
dfunkt Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 The dish is of no use lying on the floor teddy... Quote
Jono Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 did you run the lift pump by itself for awhile to fill the surge tank? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Yes, We primed the surge tank before we gave it the first run.. Quote
Jono Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 does the high pressure pump have a good earth? Quote
