james_s12 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 so here's the deal, my younger brother has bought himself a almost overrated condition 1971 Corona (I say almost, the paint is a bit faded, that's all) currently it's running drum brakes all 'round. not knowing much myself about old toyotas (i'm more of an 80's nissan guy) i thought i'd ask some advice obviously some 13x7 mags, fender mirrors and oil cooler pipes hangin' out the front are all the rage..but.. what front strut/disc brake & steering setup will fit/swap nicely? what options are there for rear end swaps to get discs on the back? please hold back on the engine mods.. he doesn't need any more power until the thing stops & steers! haha thanks! GJM85 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Reset rear leaf springs, short stroke strut inserts and lowered springs in the front. As for front brakes, any ke model front hubs, rotors and calipers. The bigger the better considering there are no bolt booster upgrades a available. The rear end is a lot harder. Maybe just a ke 30-55 diff upgrade with bigger rear drums. Quote
sbfoot Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 front discs from an rt81 bolt straight on,ka ford lazer master cylinder for dual circuit braking system, grab the booster, pushrod and bracket from the rt81 if you want boosted brakes.early ta22s share the same front brakes but you need to drill 2 extra hole for the backing plates to fit. rear brakes require more mods to get something to fit.
