iwontarolla Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 hey guys i need help i have found a car in sydney it has a blown engine so driving is out what other ways is there to get a car from sydney to Adelaide and how much will it cost? thanks guys Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Billions! Ask a car carrier.. I bought a VW Beetle with a blown clutch in Sydney years ago, hitched up there, changed the clutch in a corner of a workshop then drove it back to Canberra. You'd be best to ask if someone on here could rent you a couch and a bit of garage space for a few days and do the same. Quote
Dropz Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 find a mate with a car trailer. pay the fuel and their food and a bit for their efforts. or see if you can borrrow it from them for a small fee Quote
daggers57 Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 I used CEVA transport to send a car from brisbane to melbourne, it cost $645 door to door. Only problem is that's a price for a car that is drivable, You may have to call them to get a price a non drivable car. Quote
jono1986 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Is it a corolla? Is it the head gasket that is blown? if it is just fly over there, pull the head off and replace the gasket and do the tapets, hour later your on your way. Oh and a water/oil change aswell. Quote

iwontarolla Posted October 19, 2010 Author Report Posted October 19, 2010 Sadly it is not a corolla :( it is not rego'd to so how do you get by that if it's a fix able problem? Quote
jono1986 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Well I was going to say cause most k engines are pushrod there's less stuffing around, I think sometime soon me and a couple of mates are driving to melbourne to get a subaru that needs and new cylinder head put on it. So we're going to drive over and do that, but Sydney is heaps further away. You could see if a couple of mates want to fly over with you and help you out, although i don't know about registering it over there. So actually no help from me, just an extre 2 cents...... Quote
seabiscuit Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 The best way to do it without stuffing around and being unsure of things is to get a car trailer. You can sometimes get one-way trailer hire, which would be very handy, but it might cost more than just driving there and back with one. Just did a U-Haul quote online. They say you need to hire it for 4 days min if you do a one way from sydney to adelaide, and it cost $700 (wtf?). A 2 day hire from Adelaide cost $150. Some local companies may be cheaper also. You'll be needing: - A whole weekend to do it - Money for car trailer hire, food, hotel hire (or stay at friend or relatives if you can) and not to mention a fair amount of petrol. - 1 or 2 mates for company - Decent towing vehicle. altezzaclub Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 it is not rego'd to so how do you get by that if it's a fix able problem? Check the RTA for a temporary rego. All you need it for is a week to get it interstate. What sort of car & how are you going to find out what the problem is? Quote
iwontarolla Posted October 29, 2010 Author Report Posted October 29, 2010 its a mazda 1000 ute. i think i might have to let this on get away:( thanks guys for the help. i seem it will probs cost more then the ute cost to get it back to adelaide. Quote
Raven Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Unfortunately I don't jump in cars with people I don't know, otherwise I'd suggest we go on a little trip to go get it. Its a 16 hour drive, one way. You can't get the buyer to meet you halfway with a one way trailer hire? That would be the easier and cheapest way out of it without forking out for a heap of fuel.
