untubbed_20 Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) Unreliable? Pfft where do you get that idea from? With $6000 you'll probably hit the gearboxes limit at something like 230kw. I think if you spend your money wisely thats an easily achievable figure for that kind of money. The gearbox is the major expensive hurdle with SRs but once you're past that and you've got forged internals, skys the limit. This is a mates old silvia. I think he ended up going close to or over 600whp. Yes it was laggy as hell, turbo was a little on the (too) large side. A t88 on a sr20 will do that, that car has been through many incarnations, now its heaps less laggy and makes heaps more power with heaps smaller precision turbo http://www.justenginemanagement.com/ 490rwkw on 39psi!, ran 9.6at 144mph with 453rwkw/36psi by the looks! cheers darren Edited October 15, 2010 by untubbed_20
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 300rwhp is considered safe with a stock sr20det, this will require a good tune,an injector upgrade, and a gt28rs. That combined with the purchase price of the motor and gearbox and your money is mostly spent. Gearbox will live at this level if you be nice to it, and never use 5th gear under power. Not many people need more power than that in a little corolla. and yes BEAMS!
Trev Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 4age 20v silvertop is the way to go my friend more reliable than sr20 and stronger internals, good luck bud. Proof please mate. Especially the 'stronger internals' Hahaha, WHAT DAVE SAID x 1 BILLION The only 'unreliable' feature of the SR is the rocker arms breaking which there is a kit to fix the issue. I have driven a lot of quick SR's including NAT200 and Marks 180sx which did 11.95 in street trim, the power delivery of the SR is exceptional.

LXY-642 Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 reckon the stock sr20 auto would hold to 300rwhp? and to answer the question to the thread. how long is a piece of string? mmm... beams, yum. there is a reason why they cost so much to.
Unna Posted October 15, 2010 Author Report Posted October 15, 2010 would also save alot of money if i bought a corolla with an sr20 in too
