oh what a nissan feeling! Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 2T and 3T motors...Noooooooooooo!!!!!!! I personally hate these motors... I dedicated a yr of my life and spent thousands attempting to make a 3T fast. This was my first conversion into my ke30 and i highly recomend against it. These are an ancient, low tolerance motor, that is sure to disapoint. And best of all, they have bumpy top pistons, yep, mt everest on top of your piston! yay! Admittedly, i never played with the twin cams, but i would definately go for some thing newer! The fact that the twin cams have twin plugs suggests that they still have bumpy top pistons...Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

The fact that the twin cams have twin plugs suggests that they still have bumpy top pistons...Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Ok here is a late post... I'm not trying to undermine anyone here but the pushrod 3t engines are great, they have an indistructable bottom end if built right but do suffer from valve bounce, I have a 3T in my KE55 racecar (i moddified it myself) and i have never had any greif with it, it has masive torque for a little car and makes good power, on the track it can overtake 5lt inj commodores in a straight line which isnt bad for something with 1770cc capacity. If you want any info on what specs my little engine is feel free to contact me, alternativly i have a handfull of 2TG stuff for sale, ported head, TRD camshafts, 2 x1600cc bottom ends and a 1770cc bottom end with a cracked piston (aftermarket cheap reco pistons not standard) and the DOHC twin webber/solex manifold! The standard bottom ends are great in these things but if your goin to stuff with a twin cam one you need to be prepared to put them on an engine dyno to sort cam & ign timming out as they are very finiky and a little out is 20hp as quick as a click of your fingers! Trav PS: it took a modified SR20 turbo silvia to keep up down the straights! I love the torque!! :hmm: Edited November 29, 2005 by TRAV-KE55 Quote
styler Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 (edited) i have played with quite a few t series motors, the k motors i keep stock for daily driving. what i would recommend for naturally aspirated would be the hybrid, ie a 3tg: a 2tg with twin sidedrafts, 3t crank, elec dizzy, early head for bigger cams and if you like bore it out. most heads have the large valves and circular (non kidney) combustion chamber, only the later models don't as far as i can remember. for forced induction the 3tgte would be the go with forgies, aftermarket management, overbore and a ct26 single entry turbo from a old 3L supra with an intercooler. if you stick with the k series you can make a tidy little motor that will pull hard in a rolla, and have good fuel economy. it will make decent power but not great due to the design: pushrod, wedge combustion chamber 2 valve non crossflow head and small capacity. these motors are cheap and plentiful and easy to modify though. and pretty indestructable too! sherron79 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 The T18 engine's being the first 1980 2T-E or last of the T18's 1983 engine 3TC-E do fit the KE70's, I have done a ton of them by pissing the very under powered 4K-C off, 3TC-E can be excellent engines if they have been looked after for town use. Now 3TC engine's are worth big bucks, I know I used to wreck them not long ago. Quote
Ke50 Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 how did i not notice this thread before. i have a 2t in my ke50 which runs a T50 gearbox, and has had the cams re-ground, mild head work, extractors, and full 2.5" exhaust. it goes pretty well for a single cam 1.6 and its got a fair bit of torque considering as well. there was a model of the ke50 which came out with a 2t-b, which it the same as mine however runs a slightly higher compression ratio and solex carbies, so my car just has a crossmember from one of these models (forget which one). the 2t actually has a cross-flow type head and double rocker shafts, which is said to give nearly as much performance as using double overhead cams. Its maximum output is 102 HP at 6000 rpm with a maximum torque of 14.0 m-kg (101 ft-lb) at 3800 rpm. i like it  Quote
Jared Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 i have a 2t engine u can have 0431768038 call me Quote
muller Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Skip the EFI. Very old technology and carbys are better than it was. That is unless your gonna go aftermarket and ditch 90% of the old EFI system. And besides, who can resist the sound of quad side drafts. o yeah "PS: it took a modified SR20 turbo silvia to keep up down the straights! I love the torque!!" thats quite an effort there. Quote
